Line Movement: #6 Oklahoma at Nebraska

This is one of the key games in Week 3 where we have seen some significant line movement from the opening number. Oklahoma opened up as a -14 favorite on the road against the Cornhuskers, but by the grace of God, they fired Scott Frost and this number changed quickly.

There seems to be a newfound belief in Nebraska now that Frost has taken his well-deserved hike, and it is clear as day that they are laying their money there as well. Nebraska now sits as just a +11 underdog at home to the vaunted Sooners, and even that number is starting to disappear at sportsbooks.

What this all means is books have seen a massive influx of cash coming in on the Cornhuskers. You can clearly see this on our "Line Movement" page of our website, which will show you the difference between the opening line and current number. BetQL's lines change immediately when the sportsbooks change theirs, so you can always count on us to have the most updated number.

Sharp Money: New Mexico State at Wisconsin

Well, the smart folks certainly aren't the biggest fans of Wisconsin this week. The Badgers are massive -37 favorites at home against a terrible and 0-3 New Mexico State squad, but we are showing a huge advantage in sharp money on the Aggies. At the time of this writing, 76% of tickets are backing Wisconsin to cover as the favorite, but only 15% of the money. 85% of total money is backing New Mexico State versus the spread, but just 24% of tickets. That's a 61% difference between the total money wagered and the total ticket percentage, a huge sharp bet.

This data is available for every game of the slate for BetQL subscribers, so they always know which bet the high-rollers are backing. Compare this with our best bets for this game below.

Public Bets: No. 12 BYU at No. 25 Oregon

Here's a shocking game where the underdog is getting almost all of the public bets. The public loves to bet favorites usually, but a public dog is rare. Granted, BYU is the higher-ranked team that is an underdog, but something about this game is really fishy with how the lines are built. The Ducks got massacred by Georgia to open up the season, which created a large negative impression with most people that they are just terrible. BYU has been terrific to start the year and is coming off a huge win against Baylor at home which makes them a very popular team. So why is Oregon a -3.5 favorite? The line isn't moving either.

Taking a look at our data, a huge 78% of the tickets are on BYU +3.5, so pretty much everyone is betting on the Cougars to keep it close with the Ducks and cover the spread.

Betting against the public can be a smart strategy, though, when it creates value on the opposite side. It doesn't always pan out, so you always have to be mindful of how you're factoring in this data, but BetQL will help you make these decisions with our model projections and analysis.
