NBA Moneyline Explained
NBA Money Line betting is the simplest and a popular form of NBA betting. With NBA money line betting you are simply picking which team will outright win the game. NBA Money Line odds will list the the favorite in a given game as a negative number (ie. -200) that means you will have to bet that amount to win $100. Money line odds list the underdog as a positive number (i.e. +500) that means you will win that amount on a $100 bet. An NBA money line bet can not “push” because NBA games can not end in a tie. If you think you have mastered moneyline betting check out our NBA spreads and start betting against the spread! .
An example of a game that would likely have a tight money line difference would be a game between the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks played in Atlanta. In this case the Hawks would likely be small favorite around -120. An example of a game that would have a large money line difference would be a game between the Orlando Magic and the Golden State Warriors played in Oakland. In this case the Warriors would likely be -1,000 money line favorites or higher.
NBA Moneyline Example:
The New York Knicks are taking on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center and the Nets are favored to win. The Knicks odds are listed as (+400) while the Nets are (-250) this means if you bet $100 on the Knicks moneyline and they somehow win the game you win and cash your ticket and you win $400. If you bet $100 on the Nets moneyline and they win the game you would cash a ticket for $40. The easier way to figure out the favorite team’s odds payout is to do the inverse. If the Nets are (-250) you would need to bet $250 to win $100 on a moneyline bet.
The odds for an NBA money line bet typically range from -110, which would be considered a small favorite all the way up to -1200 which would be considered a massive favorite in basketball betting. It can be difficult to find value on NBA money line bets because a majority of bettors know who is going to win and the sportsbooks wouldn’t be making money. That is why money line betting is not as popular as betting against the spread, because the value is so much lower. For that reason many bettors like to parlay multiple money line bets together to help improve their odds which increases the payout of their bet. Check out our NBA expert picks for tonight and see if parlaying a few will win you a bet! With BetQL you can expect to always see the most updated NBA moneyline odds.
