Red Sox Are Still on Pace to Hit This Futures Bet I Placed On Them

The Red Sox are widely regarded as a bad team even though they are finding ways to win games. That’s just the optics and popular narrative right now. Their fielding might need a bit of work and they have tough games here and there that make them seem unwatchable. But there are MLB teams right now having a much tougher time than the .500 Red Sox. 

Sure, there are much better teams. But the Red Sox are not the worst team going right now despite what the clowns and bozos want you to believe.  

And I still have two futures bets on this team: For them to win the World Series and for them to go over their win total of 78.5 games. Before the season I placed a bet on them to win 80+ regular season games, as a matter of fact, at +105 and on them to win the World Series at +6000, both at FanDuel. 

And they are on pace to accomplish one of these feats. 

To win the World Series.

I’m kidding. 

I’m not completely ruling out their chances to win it all, which are currently at +12500 at BetMGM. Which, I will admit, is a bigger number than I thought it would be at this point. So I’m just saying anything is possible. But the team is 33-33 to honor Larry Bird, which means they are on pace to go over this total of 78.5, tracking for 81 wins.

So if you’re making the argument that this team stinks and won’t win anything spectacular this year, there is still a great chance they can silence the critics who said there’s no way they’ll go over on their win total by doing just that. They can win something: this bet. And that’s just a statistical fact based on numbers, which never lie, that they are on pace to go over that win total number right now.

To me, that is not a bad team and there is still hope for the future of this bet and, by extension, the future of the Red Sox for the rest of this season.
