In the middle of these deep, dark days of winter it helps think about the promise of summer days to come. And what better way to do that than to take a look at how next baseball season will play out.
While the 2022 baseball season has certainly not yet begun, it's as good a time as any too look at the World Series odds for this upcoming season and which teams have the most promise of ultimate success.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are favored to take the crown, but there are some other teams near the top who have the potential to overtake them. Let's look at where the odds stand right now and which teams are at the top of the list heading into the new year.

Los Angeles Dodgers | +594 |
Houston Astros | +933 |
New York Yankees | +1039 |
Chicago White Sox | +1039 |
Blue Jays | +1094 |
It's not a shock that the Dodgers are favored here, with a bit of distance between them and the Astros at +933. They lost to the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS this past season but they have a lot of promise going into this season and are generally favored, if not near the top of the list.
The Braves (+1333), meanwhile, are not even in the top five on this odds list, just to note.
However, I like the Astros here. The Astros just always feel dangerous. There's still uncertainty surrounding the status of superstar Carlos Correa, who is a free agent, but even if he departs from the team, this is still a stacked roster. They've still got Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley and Jake Odorizzi, among others. What a crop.
Not to mention, they also have 2021 Manager of the Year winner Dusty Baker at the helm. I love Baker and even when the Astros were up against the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS I wanted there to be some way both the Red Sox and Baker could win because he seems so cool.
But, yes, this team won the AL pennant last season over the Red Sox, but then lost to the Braves in the World Series. I see the Astros as the team to beat to win the World Series heading into this season and expect their odds to get even shorter.
