World Series Value Picks

It's not a shock that the Dodgers are favored here, with quite a bit of distance between them and the Astros at +980. They lost to the eventual World Champion Atlanta Braves in the NLCS this past season, but they have a lot of promise going into this season and are generally favored after signing Freddie Freeman. The Braves (+1175), meanwhile, are not even in the top five on this preseason odds list after losing Freeman to their NL rivals, just to note.

I like the Astros here. They just always feel dangerous. They lost Carlos Correa to the Minnesota Twins, but this is still a stacked roster. They've still got Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley and Jake Odorizzi, among others. What a crop.

Not to mention, they also have 2021 Manager of the Year winner Dusty Baker at the helm. I love Baker and even when the Astros were up against the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS, I wanted there to be some way both the Red Sox and Baker could win because he seems so cool.

But, yes, this team won the AL pennant last season over the Red Sox, but then lost to the Braves in the World Series. I see the Astros as the best value pick to win the World Series heading into this season and expect their odds to get shorter this summer, so I'd get in on those now.
