Grab a Seat on the Mets' NL Pennant Odds Train

Believe it or not, there is value in the Mets odds to win the NL pennant this year

Now, I know what you're thinking. It's the Mets. They're tough to trust, to say the least. They always find a way to fall to pieces just when you think they might find success.

But, I'm telling you, there is value in their odds to win the NL pennant this season. The Mets are second on the odds list to win it at +500 behind only the Dodgers. And they have some big names with enough talent to make me think they have a really solid chance to take the NL pennant this season.

The Mets actually have pretty strong odds to win the pennant, but not so short that there is no value in them.

And there are some real positives for the Mets heading into what hopefully will be an MLB season. The state of their pitching rotation, for instance, is very encouraging. Max Scherzer being a big piece of that. Scherzer famously arrived in a Porsche to the lockout talks in Jupiter, Fla., last week, but he's got more going for him than just his pristine German car. Scherzer went 15-4 last season with 236 strikeouts and a 2.46 ERA. And after this MLB lockout ends, which I am sure it will, Scherzer is going to be ready to let out all the pent-up rage building during these negotiations and he'll be lights-out on the mound.

If the season doesn't start on time, this could also actually be beneficial to the Mets, as Jacob deGrom will have more time to recover from the arm injury that ended his season last year so he may not actually miss as many games as expected.

This duo of Cy Young award winners could keep the Mets in the pennant conversation this year and this team should be taken seriously. These two are going to dominate and, frankly, I'm pumped for it.

Not to mention there's also Pete Alonso, who finished last season with 37 home runs and 148 hits, and Starling Marte, who finished last season with a .308 batting average, 10th best in the league. The Mets will also benefit from the universal DH being put into effect, as they could use Robinson Cano in his return from a season-long suspension to chase 3,000 career hits.

Basically, I would be terrified to be a team facing the Mets this season. And the value in their +500 odds to win the NL pennant show I'm not the only one, so get in on those now before they get shorter when these Mets start becoming truly amazin'.
