NHL First Period Moneyline Betting Explained
NHL 1st period money line betting is the simplest form of betting and probably the easiest to understand. Betting the 1st period moneyline is the exact same concept as betting a full game NHL moneyline , but now the only score that matters is the first period. When you are betting the 1st period moneyline you are simply picking which team will outright win the first period. 1st period moneyline odds will list the the favorite in a given game as a negative number (ie. -200) that means you will have to bet that amount to win $100. The underdog will be listed with a positive number (ie. +500) that means you will win that amount on a $100 bet. If you have already mastered moneyline betting take the next step up and check out the NHL puck lines and start betting against the spread.
NHL 1st Period ML Example:
The Los Angeles Kings are playing the Arizona Coyotes and the Kings are the favorite. The 1st period moneyline lists the Kings at (-200) and you place a $100 bet on them. At the end of the first period the score is Kings 1 - Coyotes 0. Since the Kings won the first period 1-0 your bet covers and you can cash your ticket! Since the Kings were a heavy favorite listed at (-200) your $100 bet would win you $50. You would get the $100 back that you placed the wager with and be given $50 of profit.
