The Ivy League tournament is much more exclusive than most other conferences, and we only have eight teams that will vie for the chance to come out of the conference for a chance at an NCAA tournament bid. Yale leads the "smart" teams this season and should be the favorite to come out on top. It has done a great job after losing All-Ivy selections Azar Swain and Jalen Gabbidon from their backcourt before the season began. Matt Knowling has stepped up as the leader of this Yale team, and is averaging 14.5 points per game.
Penn isn't at the top of the odds list to win this tournament, but I believe it has the best overall player in the conference, and I'd like to ride with him to take his team to the promised land. Guard Jordan Dingle, a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection last season, has been incredible this year. You may have never heard of him, but he's averaging 23.4 points per game and is one of the most explosive players in college basketball. I don't think anyone in the Ivy league can match his skills, and if there is a player who I want to bet on, it is going to be him.
Cornell certainly isn't a team that you want to put a lot of money on, as they had a losing record this season in conference, but it isn't impossible that they could be a team that can win a few games in a row here. Big Red did have a winning record overall. They have a great offense that can put up points in bunches, and that always means that they have a chance. Last season, Cornell ranked 17th nationally in scoring offense with 79.2 points per game. This season was even better, as Cornell averaged a massive 82.3 points per game. An offense like that is lethal, and if it can get hot, Cornell has a chance to make a run.
The most famous school in the country doesn't exactly have a great basketball program, but it does have a few players who can get hot and push their team forward. The Crimson return forwards Chris Ledlum and Luka Sakota, both of whom averaged double figures in scoring last season, and both of whom are still important to the team in 2023. Those two are key to Harvard making a run, but it still will be a longshot for them to do so. At this number, you should bet only a small flier on the Crimson. They do have a positive points differential this season, so it isn't like they were horrible, and no one in the Ivy League has been totally dominant.
