The Cougars of Charleston are the odds on favorite to win the Colonial Conference, which is not shocking at all. They have been awesome this season, finishing with a 28-3 record, including 16-2 in the conference. However, they shared the conference's best record with Hofstra, who also went 16-2. However, they had an overall record of 23-8, making Charleston the better team overall. Still, this should be a tough conference with some very competitive matchups that will make for some truly grand basketball.

2023 Colonial Conference Tournament Picks & Predictions

Colonial Winner Best Bet: Towson (+850)

Yes, Charleston and Hofstra are the big favorites here to take home the conference championship, but there is little to no value in taking them at the current numbers. That's why I'll go with Towson as my favorite bet at the number. The Tigers are a very talented team that had three First-Team All-Conference players in the preseason poll, and all of those guys have showed out this season. Cam Holden, Charles Thompson and Nicolas Timberlake can all go off at any moment.

Towson ranks third in the conference in KenPom ratings behind the favorites, but not by a large margin. However, the gap increases quite a bit after the Tigers. In fact, no one else in the conference has a positive ranking after Towson.

Colonial Winner Sleeper Pick: Delaware (+6000)

Talk about a massive upset that this would be, but at 60/1, it could be worth a shot to take a flier with Delaware. Pretty much the only reason to take them at this huge number is the fact that they have a superstar scoring guard that can catch fire at a moments notice and take over games. Outside of the trio at Towson, Delaware guard Jameer Nelson Jr. may be the best player in the CAA. His scoring ability is second to none, as he is the highest-scoring player in the conference and that makes his team all that more viable to win it. We have seen plenty of times in the past where one guy gets hot and takes his team on a deep run in a tournament, and Nelson Jr. is a guy who can do just that.

Let's not forget, this is also a team that just won the conference last season.

Colonial Winner Deep Sleeper Pick: Northeastern (+15000)

The chance this happens is extremely small, as I think there are only realistically maybe four or five teams that can win the CAA this year, but nevertheless, this is a sleeper if you are looking for one. Northeastern is not a very good basketball team outside of one man, and that is the Huskies’ Jahmyl Telfort. He's an absolute beast, averaging 16.2 points per game, by far the best on his team. The Huskies are pretty awful, at 6-12 in the conference and 10-19 overall, but there is always a slim chance that they just ride Telfort to a few upsets, and if they do, this could be a great cash out profit.

Do not bet much on this, I wouldn't bet more than a few bucks at the very most, but you are getting 150/1 odds here.
