NL Rookie of the Year Odds: Seiya Suzuki Leads All Players

A look at the latest BetMGM odds

There are some very talented young players in Major League Baseball this season, both in the American and National League.

Instead of looking at MLB betting lines all the time, future bets are a nice alternative to change things up.

Here are the latest MLB odds when it comes to National League Rookie of the Year.

NL Rookie of the Year Odds

  • Seiya Suzuki -110

  • MacKenzie Gore +400

  • Juan Lepez +800

  • Alek Thomas +1200

  • Max Meyer +2000

  • Oneil Cruz +2500

  • Nick Lodolo +2500

Seiya Suzuki- Cubs (-110)

Last week: Suzuki returned from an ankle tweak revitalized as he hit .304 and drove in three runs this past week. He’ll need to build off the solid week as his prior slump has allowed others to creep up in the NL ROY race.

This week: The Cubs and Suzuki could be in for a big week as they have upcoming series against the Diamondbacks and Reds. Suzuki needs to capitalize on four games in the very hitter-friendly confines of Great American Ballpark.

Mackenzie Gore – Padres (+400)

Last week: Gore continues to gain ground on Suzuki in the NL ROY race, but it appears that he’ll have to continue to do so in a different role, as the return of Blake Snell has pushed Gore to the bullpen. However, he was extremely effective in his first relief appearance. He threw three scoreless innings against the Phillies and struck out four.

Next week: While Gore may continue to be effective out of the pen, the move may considerably hurt his chances to win this award. Since the Rookie of the Year Award was established only 11 relievers have won it and ten of them were closers.

Juan Yepez – Cardinals – (+800)

Last week: Yepez’s odds have vaulted over the past week as he continued to rack up hits. He’s been a versatile weapon for the Cardinals as he’s appeared at first base and the outfield since being called up. On top of all that, he’s hitting .306 even after struggling at the dish over his recent stretch.

Next week: Yepez could be in line to heat up again as the Cardinals have a weekend series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on deck. The Pirates have the fourth-worst team ERA in the majors and if the Cardinals score a bunch of runs, Yepez will be a right in the middle of it.

Alek Thomas – Diamondbacks (+1200)

Last week: Thomas is another fast riser in the rookie race as he’s hitting .314 through his first 11 career games. The Diamondbacks’ top prospect has lived up to the hype thus far and he will be fun to watch going forward.

Next week: Thomas and the scuffling D-Backs will have an opportunity to turn things around as they have upcoming series against the Cubs and Royals. Thomas could be matched up against crafty pitchers like Kyle Hendricks and Marcus Stroman, who may be good barometers for his ability to hit Big League pitching.

Hunter Greene – Reds (+3000)

Last week: Greene’s odds have plummeted after a series of rough outings, but he got back on track in a big way his last time out. Greene held the Pirates hitless over seven-plus innings, but the Reds failed to score in that game and actually lost a game where the Pirates never recorded a hit.

Next week: While the hitless outing is encouraging, it lowered Greene’s season ERA to only 6.21. He will face a tall task as he’s slated to face the Blue Jays in Toronto. We’ll see if his last performance was a turning point or a blip on Greene’s rough rookie season.
