  • The Rays' Randy Arozarena is the favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year with -160 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

  • But there is value in Ryan Mountcastle's +350 odds to win the AL Rookie of the Year.

  • Mountcastle has 30 HRs, 128 hits, 83 RBIs and a .260 batting average this season.

The AL Rookie of the Year race is coming down to the wire. With this rookie class having an impressive year, the contenders for the award are making their final cases.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena is favored to win AL Rookie of the Year with -160 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. However, there is value in betting on Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle’s odds to win the award at +350.

Why Mountcastle Can Win AL Rookie Of The Year

Mountcastle follows Arozarena on the list of odds to win AL Rookie of Year at FanDuel. With the stellar season he’s been having, there is value at +350.

The 24-year-old has 30 home runs, 128 hits, 83 RBIs and a .260 batting average. While the Orioles as a team have been struggling, Mountcastle has stepped up. He broke the Orioles' rookie home run record, passing Cal Ripkin Jr., with his 29th home run on Sept. 16.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde thinks Mountcastle should win this award.

“We need to start talking about him more for (AL) Rookie of the Year,” Hyde told the media earlier this month. “What he's done here these last four months, he’s been an impact player in this league. (He is) showing you the power that he has and improving defensively at first base, and driving in runs. He made some great adjustments at the plate after the first month and has put together a very, very strong rookie campaign.”

The Value In Mountcastle’s ROY Odds

Despite his team living in the basement of the AL East standings with a 48-103 record, Mountcastle continues to put up numbers.

Arozarena, meanwhile, only has 19 home runs and 65 RBIs while batting .268. Mountcastle has better numbers in each of these categories, but give Arozarena the edge in steals, 15-4.

I think the first baseman is going to get even hotter in the final games of the season and he is certainly the value bet to win the AL Rookie of the Year.
