College Football Win Totals: Iowa Division-I Programs

How will the Hawkeyes and Cyclones fare in 2022?

College football win totals for the 2022 season have arrived! This means that we can now bet the over/under on how many wins a certain program will have next year, which is always a fun bet to make. Today we're taking a look at the Division-I programs in the state of Iowa to find out what might be the best bet. It will be interesting to see where their win totals sit and examine why they might go over or under.

We have already looked at the Akron ZipsVanderbilt Commodores, Illinois and Michigan schools, and we'll continue to look at different schools and states to see where the value lies in the win total projections.

Iowa Hawkeyes, Big Ten - O/U 7

Somehow, the Hawkeyes will always be in contention with Kirk Ferentz as head coach. This is a team that won the Big Ten West last season, as they have done pretty regularly under Ferentz in his time there. He's without a doubt going to be in the Hall of Fame when all is said and done, but I doubt this season will be one of his better ones. I think the Hawkeyes take a bit of a step back from their performance last season, and they have closer to a 8-4 type of season than anything close to a 10-2 miracle run.

They are going to lose to Ohio State for sure, as will pretty much everyone in the Big Ten. They have a few games in divisional play that I could see them dropping, but I think this is a spot where the number may be just right. Seven wins feels about where the Hawkeyes will end up in 2022, with maybe a slight edge to the over.

I think this is a bet that I will just stay away from, however.

Pick: Over 7 (Probably Push)

Iowa State Cyclones, Big 12 - O/U 6.5

Sorry, Iowa State fans, but there isn't too much positive I can say about this team next season. The Cyclones wasted what was perhaps the most talented roster in program history last year in 2021, which was an incredibly frustrating season to watch if you are a fan. the disappointment of that team may sting for quite some time, and this year's 2022 team is a big question mark. While Matt Campbell has unquestionably been the greatest head coach in the history of the program, and has led the team to its highest degree of success ever in his six years there, he will finally feel what its like to have complete roster turnover.

Household names like Brock Purdy, Mike Rose and Greg Eisworth II are gone, leaving significant holes to fill on the roster. Not only that, but they will certainly miss that veteran presence on the field, especially at the QB position. I have faith that Campbell will be able to hold his own this season, and they very well could reach six wins and become bowl eligible. However, I just don't see seven wins for this team after the amount of losses that they took over the offseason.

Iowa State is a program in transition, and their record will reflect that in 2022.

Pick: Under 6.5
