College Football Win Totals: Can Vanderbilt Win Three Games?

The Commodores' win total is set at 2.5

The Vanderbilt Commodores are going through some tough times. Actually, they always seem to be going through tough times. A logo change won't change the embarrassing performances on the field of this football team, and that is very likely to continue in 2022. This is a team that lost to East Tennessee State by 20 points to open last season, and somehow, they may be even worse this year. The win total for Vandy is currently set at 2.5, and that is a number that I would LOVE to hammer the under on, even at -140. The Commodores won just two games last season, one over Colorado State and the other over a bad FBS team in UConn. This season, they won't have such easy opportunities.

Vanderbilt has a tougher schedule in 2022 than they had in 2021. They get a terrible Elon team in Week 2, but all of their other non-conference games come against teams that played in bowl games last year: Hawaii, 2021 ACC Championship runner-up Wake Forest, and 2021 MAC champion Northern Illinois. That doesn't bode well for them at all, and the SEC is going to be the SEC. Nothing about their schedule paints a pretty picture, and there’s a very real chance the Commodores’ only possible two wins come in Week 1 and Week 2. And even that isn't guaranteed with how bad they are.

The offense was 128th in Success Rate last year, while the defense came in at 122nd. This is a team that is destined to be bad, and there simply aren't enough winnable games on their schedule to bet them over the 2.5 total that has been set.

Pick: UNDER 2.5
