Coming off a beatdown by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, I expect the Boston Celtics to come into this game ready to set the tone from the start. That starts with their star Jayson Tatum not only scoring but making an impact on the game in other ways. Tatum has only surpassed this total in three of his last six games, but is averaging 8.7 rebounds over the last month. He has also posted double-digit rebounds in each of the Celtics' last three games against the Mavs, dating back to last season. Not to mention Dallas ranks 23rd in opponent rebounding over the last five games. I also think this game is going to be extremely close throughout, which means Tatum will have plenty of minutes tonight to hit this prop.
While the Jazz have been struggling lately, dropping their last five games, Lauri Markkanen’s scoring hasn’t dropped off one bit during that span. He’s scored at least 28 points in each of those games and has led the team with double-digit rebounds in three of them. Markkanen has averaged 42.5 PRA in the last five games, easily surpassing what tonight’s number is set at. With the way he’s been playing lately, there is plenty of value in this number.
In Reggie Jackson’s last 10 games, his assists prop has been at 3.5 seven different times. However, he’s only gone over that number once, which was in L.A.’s most recent outing against Miami. Jackson started the season by averaging 4.3 assists in October and 4.8 in November, but dropped to just 2.3 in December and didn’t record more than three in a single game that month. Much of that has to do with his minutes decreasing once Paul George and Kawhi Leonard both returned to the lineup consistently. With both of those players expected to play tonight, I think we see another limited game in the assist department from Jackson.
