Eastern Conference Pick To Win NBA Finals: Boston Celtics (+180, BetMGM)

Based on how they’ve performed up to this point, it makes sense that the Celtics are the favorite to win both the Eastern Conference at -125 on BetMGM and the NBA title at +180, the best odds on the market. There isn't a whole lot of value at this point, but there also aren't any teams that I think can beat Boston at its best.

The Celtics cruised through the Eastern Conference, becoming the first team to clinch a spot in the postseason and will have home-court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. That's huge because they've been the most dominant home team this season, going 37-4 at TD Garden.

The offseason additions of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday are one of the reasons I think the Celtics will be able to get back to the NBA Finals. Holiday not only brings a high level of perimeter defense to this roster, but he's also an experienced guard who has won an NBA title. Marcus Smart was a solid player but he wasn't a true point guard in the same way Holiday is. That often led to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown putting themselves in isolation situations in critical moments and coming up short. Holiday isn't going to let that happen down the stretch of close games and that's going to serve as a major difference-maker.

Porzingis also provides Boston with a reliable scoring option inside but is also someone who can stretch the floor by stepping out and shooting the three. That's a luxury that they've had with Al Horford, but not quite at the same level as Porzingis.

Numbers-wise, the Celtics have the best offensive rating and net rating in the league and the second-best defensive rating. Boston has also dominated the top competition in the East, going 10-5 against the Bucks, Cavs, Knicks and Magic (two of those losses came in the final four games of the season and Boston threw in the towel in those games.) Four of those losses came away from home, which makes having home-court advantage huge in this team's quest to make it back to the NBA Finals.

Western Conference Pick To Win NBA Finals: Denver Nuggets (+300, BetMGM)

The Western Conference has been a juggernaut this season with up-and-coming teams like the Timberwolves and Thunder having breakout seasons. Yet, the Nuggets are still my favorite to come out of the West (+140 at BetMGM) and win the title at +300, also best odds on the market. Denver’s starting five that led it to a 16-4 record in last year’s playoffs is still fully intact and one of the top lineups in the entire league. 

The Clippers might be Denver's biggest threat in the West, but they don’t have the size to contain Jokic. The Joker is averaging 27.0 points, 15.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists in his three games against the Clippers this year. James Harden is also a liability come playoff time. His postseason struggles have been well-documented throughout his career, and if that’s the case again this April, it’s going to be hard for L.A. to get past the defending champs. Plus, health is always a concern when talking about Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, especially with Leonard's lingering knee issues flaring up right now.

The Nuggets were on cruise control through much of the regular season, but they've turned things up over the last month and seem to be heading into the postseason in peak form. I expect them to continue their high-level play over the last 10 games of the regular season, so grab them now at +300 because I don’t see that number being available for much longer. 

NBA Championship Longshot Pick: Philadelphia 76ers (+1900, Caesars)

We're getting a great price on the 76ers to win the NBA title because of their tough road ahead. The Sixers are in the Play-In Tournament but only because they dropped so many games while Joel Embiid was sidelined for a few months. Embiid was having an MVP-calber season before his injury and has picked up right where he left off since returning. Philly closed the season on a 7-0 run to end the season and will have two opportunities to get out of the Play-In being it's the No. 7 seed. Its biggest test in the East will be the Celtics, whom it would meet in the conference finals.

While I think Boston is a little different than previous seasons with the personnel on this year's roster, the Celtics' reliance on 3s and inability to adapt if those aren't falling makes them susceptible to anyone. As long as Embiid stays healthy, I think Philly can reach the conference finals, giving us a great opportunity to hedge at that point.
