The 76ers have a 3-2 series lead over the Boston Celtics after winning a pivotal Game 5 on the road, 115-103. As the series shifts back to the City of Brotherly Love for Game 6 on Thursday night, we ask the important questions: What are the best bets to make before tip-off? Will Boston force a Game 7?

Best Bet #1: 76ers ML (+120, BetMGM)
The Boston Celtics are a slight road favorite (-2.5) at BetMGM for Game 6 in Philly. I don't know how many more times I am going to hear about how the Celtics were in this position last year against Milwaukee, before winning two straight games to take the series from the Bucks. But I have already heard it plenty.
Last year, I still had some hair left on the top of my head, and last year, this Boston team played much differently than this year's Boston team does. Would I be absolutely shocked if Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown balled out and the Celtics shot their way to a Game 7? Nope, not even in the slightest, but that doesn't mean I think it's a good bet.
In a pivotal Game 5 led by Joel Embiid, the 76ers oozed composure and confidence, which I promise you, is the first time I have ever said that about a Joel Embiid-led 76ers team in that big of a spot. The Sixers were getting whatever they wanted offensively. The Celtics did not seem to have any type of a game plan on defense to stop the one thing the Sixers did all year: Harden/Embiid pick-and-roll.
The Celtics chose to ignore the MVP all game out of the pick-and-roll sets, with their "on-ball" defender fighting over the Embiid screen, and the Embiid defender just straight up chilling, sagging off multiple feet away from the action. This resulted in an offensive clinic. Embiid got to all of his favorite spots on the floor (33 PTS, 10-23 FG, 10-11 FT). Maxey (30 points, 6-12 3PT) also got in on the action as the ball handler while Embiid set screens that mimicked Jason Kelce pancake blocks.
I don't trust Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla to make the necessary adjustments that are required for us to start betting on the Celtics to win in a do-or-die game on Broad Street. I am betting on the MVP and Co. to close things out in Game 6. Grab the 76ers for the outright win at plus-money while you can!
Best Bet #2: Tyrese Maxey o2.5 made 3s (+100, BetMGM)
I mentioned how Maxey went off in Game 5, finishing with 30 points and going 6-for-12 from the 3-point line. Maxey has been getting plenty of clean looks from beyond the arc. He averages 8.0 3-point attempts per game in this series and he has made over 2.5 twice; in the three games he went under, he finished with two. In Round 1, Maxey averaged 7.8 3PT attempts per game in the series vs. the Nets and he made over 2.5 in three of the four games.
Coming off a game with six 3s, I feel good about betting on Maxey to make at least half of that again, this time doing it at home at the Wells Fargo Center.
Best of luck on all of your bets!
