Jaylen Brown Over 27.5 Points +100 at DraftKings
On Monday night, the Boston Celtics are going to take the court in Orlando without Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon and (most likely) Robert Williams. Per RotoGrinders’ free Court IQ tool, the best Celtics star to target with the presumed additional usage is not Jayson Tatum, but Jaylen Brown.
With the aforementioned guys off the court, Brown has scored 0.82 points per minute with a usage rate of 31.6%. Meanwhile, Tatum has scored 0.68 points per minute with a 29.1% usage rate. Therefore, if those numbers hold true, Brown should get over this 27.5-point number with 35 minutes on the floor, something he’s achieved in five consecutive starts.
The Magic just gave up 138 points to the Wizards, so their defense is not in great form at the moment. However, that might change a bit in this one as elite wing defender Jonathan Isaac is set to make his season debut. That might affect Tatum, who could see 15-to-20 minutes of one-on-one attention from him. In turn, Brown, who ranks 12th in the NBA with 26.9 average points per game, could gain another advantage.
Over his last 12 games, Brown has gone over 27.5 points eight times and getting plus-money on this outcome tonight makes a lot of sense.
As someone who has made massive strides as a pick-and-roll ball-handler and is shooting a career-high 49.3% from the field, Brown is consistently the afterthought behind Tatum, but tonight, I wouldn’t be shocked if he drops 40 in front of Mickey Mouse.
Domantas Sabonis under 19.5 points vs. Grizzlies (only if Steven Adams plays): Sabonis has played three games against Memphis this season and has posted 18, 11 and eight points in those matchups. Adams has the ability to physically bruise him in the post and Sabonis doesn't like this matchup.
Lauri Markkanen over 9.5 rebounds vs. Hornets: He's recorded double digit rebounds four straight times and now gets one of the best matchups possible for an opposing rebounder against Charlotte.
