Celtics at Magic Prediction

The Boston Celtics (35-12 SU, 25-21-1 ATS, 21-23 O/U) meet the Orlando Magic (17-29 SU, 25-20-1 ATS, 24-21 O/U) for the fourth and final time this season.

The Celtics are going to be shorthanded tonight with Malcolm Brogdon and Marcus Smart both already ruled out and Robert Williams listed as questionable. For whatever reason, the Magic get up for games against Boston. They’ve already beaten the Celtics outright twice this season and only lost by six in the other meeting. This is also the front end of a back-to-back for Boston with Miami on deck tomorrow night. That feels like a bit of a look-ahead spot with that game being a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals.

My Pick: Magic +7.5

Timberwolves at Rockets Prediction

The Houston Rockets (10-36 SU, 16-26-4 ATS, 23-23 O/U) look to snap their 13-game losing streak tonight as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves (24-24 SU, 21-25-2 ATS, 24-24 O/U).

These two teams played two nights ago in Minnesota with the Wolves winning that game, 113-104. While Minnesota won, the Rockets actually crushed the Wolves in both rebound and points in the paint. Much of that likely had to do with Rudy Gobert not playing in that game, and there's a good chance he sits again tonight. The Rockets also killed themselves giving up 30 points on 23 turnovers compared to just 12 turnovers for Minnesota. If Houston can take care of the basketball and continue to rebound and dominate the paint again tonight, I like them to cover this game and so does our model.

Grizzlies at Kings Prediction

After losing to the Phoenix Suns last night, the Memphis Grizzlies (31-15 SU, 23-21-2 ATS, 22-22 O/U) are back on the road to face the Portland Trailblazers ( 26-19 SU, 26-19 ATS, 22-22 O/U).

My favorite angle in this game is to play the over in the first half. The Kings have the second-best offense in the first half over their last five games but are terrible defensively. The Grizzlies are the opposite. Their offense hasn't been great in the first half, but their defense has shown up. I don't expect their defense to be quite as sharp tonight after playing last night in Phoenix and then having to travel to Portland. These two teams have played three times already this season and the first-half totals in those games finished at 119, 123 and 117. However, the full-game total for tonight is 5-10 points higher than what the total closed at in their previous games, meaning the books expect this game to be much higher scoring. I think we see a first-half score of around 124, so I'll gladly play the over at 119.5.
