The 2022-2023 NBA season is right around the corner and BetQL is going to hook you up with best bets, live sharp data, daily articles and so much more. Right now is the perfect time to lock in some valuable NBA futures, starting with the three options below.
Houston is a very young team, but they’re loaded with talent. Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green, Jae’Sean Tate, #3 overall pick Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun are projected to start, but guys like Josh Christopher, #17 overall pick Tari Eason, #29 overall pick TyTy Washington, Kenyon Martin Jr. and veteran Eric Gordon should all make impacts as well. Veterans Boban Marjanovic and Derrick Favors could also provide some quality minutes in the frontcourt, but overall, this team is much better than the 23.5 regular season win total that they’re tabbed at.
It’s reasonable to assume that Porter Jr., Green, Tate, Sengun and Christopher will all improve off of last season’s production while the influx of new young talent with three first-round rookies should also vault this team ahead of the 20-62 mark they finished last season with. Plus, nine of their losses last year came by three or fewer points, which is important to remember. I expect coach Stephen Silas to rally his young squad to 30-plus wins this year and you can get this at -120 at BetRivers right now. Best part: if you don’t already have an account there, you can bet this risk-free. If it loses, you’ll get refunded in free bets. If it wins, you’ll get your winnings when they win their 24th game.
When looking at the Eastern Conference and the fact that the Top 10 finishers now have the chance to make the playoffs, I see this as one of the most valuable NBA futures on the board. Let’s get the bad teams out of the way. The Magic, Pistons, Pacers and Hornets are clearly among the inferior squads and should struggle all year long. Meanwhile, I can see the Wizards as a team that isn’t much of a threat. That creates the opportunity for the Knicks to at least finish in the Top 10, where they should be in the mix around teams like the Cavaliers, Bulls, Raptors and Hawks. I could even see them finishing sixth in the East, thus avoiding the play-in tournament.
After adding Jalen Brunson in the offseason, this Knicks roster has a lot of talent and is quite deep. Joining him in the starting five will likely be Evan Fournier, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson while Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley, Cam Reddish, Obi Toppin, Isaiah Hartenstein and (eventually when healthy) Quentin Grimes will also factor into the equation. This is Tom Thibodeau’s best team (by far) in New York, and at +205 at FanDuel, there’s a nice bit of value in backing them.
The Grizzlies (+105) and Mavericks (+140) are the favorites to win the Southwest Division, but the Pelicans are a team to get in on ASAP. Zion Williamson is back and healthy and will join a starting five that also features CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Herbert Jones and Jonas Valanciunas. Off the bench, Jose Alvarado, rookie Dyson Daniels, Trey Murphy III, Larry Nance Jr., Willy Hernangomez and eventually Jaxson Hayes (when he returns from injury) will make an impact.
With Williamson, Ingram and McCollum, this team has three All-Star caliber starters and Jones, Alvarado and Daniels are all going to be key, elite on-ball defenders. If the aforementioned Big Three stays healthy, I can see this team contending in the Western Conference, especially after the heart and pride they showed in last season’s late-season run (without Zion and other difference-makers) under head coach Willie Green.
