This should be a good one here on Friday night when the Minnesota Wild travel to the state of Washington to take on the Seattle Kraken. Minnesota has started to find their groove after starting out the season terribly. Their offense has started to get things going behind Kirill Kaprizov, and they have also started to get things pieced together on defense. They still have some work to do on that side of the ice, but granted, they have gotten better. Goaltending was their biggest issue, but we have also started to see that settle down. This is a dangerous team now that they have started to get their problems fixed, and they should once again be in the mix for a playoff appearance.

Seattle has quietly been one of the best teams in hockey to start out the year. The second-year expansion franchise really struggled in their first season, but they have started to see things come around. The offense hasn't been spectacular, but they have done enough to win hockey games, which is something that didn't happen in 2021. They have found a stud in Andre Burakovsky, who has been dialing up the points for the team. On defense is where they have been great, allowing just 27.5 shots per game to opponents, a massive upgrade from the previous year.

PICK: A tough one, as Minnesota is improving and I have liked what I've seen from Seattle. The Wild are getting plus-money, so for that reason, I'll grab them on the ML.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will travel north of the border to Canada on Friday and take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. This should be another great matchup that I can't wait to see and bet on. Pittsburgh has really struggled as of late to win games, but I still believe they are a good hockey team. The offense has been legit, and they were ridiculously good in the early part of the season. Pittsburgh is averaging a whopping 35.3 shots per game, so they are taking it to the net with impunity. Where they have struggled is on defense, allowing a very high 34.1 shots per game against them, and that number absolutely needs to come down if they want to be taken seriously. As a result, their goaltending has struggled, but that is understandable with the shots they are allowing.

Toronto isn't a bad hockey team by any means, just disappointing. With the players they have and the way they play, they should be winning a lot more games than they are. The Leafs offense has been good, but they can't seem to find the back of the net. When you take 31.3 shots per game, but are scoring less than three goals, that's a problem. Perhaps they are just very unlucky. Defensively, they have been a great team. Toronto allows just 27.4 shots per game and 2.71 goals. If they could just start finding the back of the net, they would be golden.

PICK: I'd say go with Toronto here because of how bad the Pittsburgh defense has been, but they can't score. The Leafs love to disappoint as favorites, and it isn't like the Penguins are a terrible team. Take the plus money with them.

Four games on the day and we have finally got to one where the teams are just meh. The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Washington Capitals in D.C. on Friday night, and it isn't a matchup of heavyweights. Tampa hasn't looked like the team we have seen over the last three years, which was a two-time champion and runner-up last season. They have played more games than any other team in the league in that span by a wide margin, so fatigue could be playing a part on their players. The offense hasn't been bad, taking 31.2 shots per game, but they need work on the defensive end. They are allowing 31.8 shots to their opponents, which is uncharacteristically high for them. I think they will make the playoffs when all is said and done, but this team just doesn't give the vibe that they are championship worthy again.

The Capitals have begun their downswing from winning the Cup and being a contender for years, and it is evident in their play. Yes, they have a lot of injuries, but they wouldn't be great even with those players back. They are allowing too much pressure on defense, and the offense hasn't been productive outside of the great Alex Ovechkin. They are really struggling to score, and that probably won't get any better until some reinforcements arrive.

PICK: I think both teams have had some problems this season. So I'll once again take the plus money with the home team.
