Oregon State at Oregon: Live Week 13 Odds

Oregon State Beavers Week 13 Outlook

The Beavs had a fantastic chance to solidify themselves as a real threat in the Pac-12 last week against Washington, and they blew their chance with a 22-20 loss. They closed as a -2 favorite in that game against the undefeated Huskies, but couldn't get the job done at home. Now, with three losses, they have little to play for outside of getting the best bowl game possible. Of course, they would love to crush Oregon's small chance to make it into the CFP by handing them a second loss.

The offense has been great for Oregon State this season, ranking 12th in yards per play on that side of the ball. Perhaps one of their most impressive stats is their ability to score when they get down to the red zone, ranking second in the nation in red zone efficiency with a 97.6% success rate. A lot of that can be attributed to a strong rushing attack that doesn't force QB DJ Uiagalelei to do all the work, which is a good thing for him. We saw what happened when he was at Clemson, and this scheme has set him up to be successful.

On defense, the Beavs haven't been quite as good, but they also haven't been bad either. They rank 26th in yards per play given up, which again, is actually quite a good number. One of their strongest units on this side of the ball is their defensive line, which has been a terror to opposing QBs all season. They rank seventh in sacks per game, averaging 3.3 each time out, and have also been great at stopping the run.

Oregon Ducks Week 13 Outlook

If not for their loss to Washington a while back, the Ducks might be in the CFP right now. That loss was massive for them, but they still have a shot if things go their way. They will need to win out, of course, and that starts with beating Oregon State here at home. It is not going to be an easy task, even if they are two-touchdown favorites. The Beavs are going to want to spoil any hope for them, so they will have to play their best football on Saturday to make sure that doesn't happen.

I think we all know just how good this Oregon offense is by now, but we can just talk about a few of their stats here for context. The Ducks rank No. 1 in the nation in several categories, including first downs gained per game and sacks allowed per game. In fact, QB Bo Nix has been the more comfortable man in the country this year, getting taken down just 0.5 times per game on average. They rank second in yards per play and have just been absolutely lethal all season long.

On defense, they have also been very good, ranking 19th in yards per play. They have been particularly stingy against opposing rushing attacks, ranking 11th in the country and allowing just 96.2 yards on the ground per game. That likely will be very important against a Beavers team that likes to run.

Oregon State at Oregon Best Bet

My Pick: Oregon State +14 (-115, BetMGM)

I think this is too many points to be giving the Beavers. They are going to be running the ball a lot, and that is going to chew a lot of clock. Much like how they were able to slow down the high-powered Washington offense this past week, I think they will do much of the same against the Ducks. I'll take the points if they are giving me multiple TDs.
