The biggest game of the day will feature the Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. the Texas Longhorns. Texas just had their football team lose to a top-5 team in the country, and now they will look to avoid having their basketball team do the same. The Bulldogs have an absolutely brutal non-conference schedule this season, and that started with Michigan State in their last game, playing on the USS Abraham Lincoln. It was a very weird game, but they got the win.

Gonzaga was a very underwhelming 4-of-22 from three and made some massive adjustments at halftime which helped them secure the victory. Drew Timme is the man, and they will need to play through him on most nights. He had 22 points in that game, and they need him to be the superstar he is against teams like Texas. Still, they are better than their performance on the aircraft carrier. Nolan Hickman, Julian Strawther, Malachi Smith, and Rasir Bolton are much better shooters than they showed in the opener.

Texas has a better roster this year than they did last year, and that is going to be huge after they just never put the talent together last year. They had a ridiculous amount of depth, and they couldn't figure out who the best player was on the team. With the addition of Tyrese Hunter, Texas has a legitimate star. They know the guy they will be going to when it's crunch time, and it is unquestionably him. Hunter needs to have a big game for Texas’ to have a shot to keep pace with those Gonzaga guards. If they want to consider themselves with the big boys, they need to get a win here.

MY PICK: Gonzaga’s shooting struggles probably won't continue into this game now that they aren't on a ship, and I think coach Mark Few is going to have them ready to play. Texas is going to have a hard time containing Timme, who scored 37 last time these two faced. I'll take the Zags.

Another game that will have the public eye today will be the Legends Classic between the Michigan Wolverines and Pitt Panthers. Michigan had a tough time in their last game against Emoni Bates and Eastern Michigan, winning by just five points. They allowed Bates to just go off on them, scoring 30 points and absolutely destroying their defense the entire night. Luckily for them, they had their own superstar in Hunter Dickinson, who had 31 points of his own. They are certainly going to need to clean up that defensive play if they want to be taken seriously against a real team, but all in all, they got the win and the offense looked phenomenal.

Pitt comes into the game 1-1 after taking the loss to West Virginia in their last game. It wasn't a very pretty effort from them, losing 81-56 and looking absolutely dreadful on offense, shooting 42.2% as a team. They also were terrible from deep, shooting just 21.7%, while West Virginia shot 38.1% from behind the arc. That killed the Panthers and made sure that they had no life in that game, so they must do better here against Michigan.

PICK: Pitt's offense is a bit out of sorts, and they only have one guy that really scares you at all: Blake Hinson. Michigan has far more depth and Dickinson to fall back on.

The Cougar Classic will take place tonight when Texas Southern comes into town to take on Houston, the No. 3 ranked team in the country. Texas Southern looked atrocious in their first two games against San Francisco and Texas Tech, but they managed to get a good bounce-back win against Arizona State in overtime in their last game out. They will be a massive underdog in this game for sure, but they are a team that I think has the ability to cover large numbers. They are 2-1 ATS this season, and they have a feisty group of offensive players led by John Walker lll. He's a smart player that can also put up 15+ points per game and catch opponents off guard. Even if they get down huge, they are a scrappy bunch that can backdoor cover large spreads.

Houston should absolutely smash them, however, and it won't be close. I don't know how Texas Southern will score on this elite defense; Houston has allowed 45.3 points per game. In the three previous games this season, only one of Houston's opponents surpassed 50 points. It's lockdown type of stuff, and it will be very difficult for Texas Southern to get points on the board. Houston's offense is scoring 82.3 points per game, so they are also playing at a very high level. All of these numbers will go down when they face real competition, but that won't be this game.

MY PICK: Houston should win by a lot, but Texas Southern I think has a shot to backdoor here. It's disgusting and makes you want to puke, but I'll take a huge number with Texas Southern.
