This feels like an opportunity to buy low on Texas Tech and sell high on No. 14 Iowa State. The Cyclones are 3-0 in Big 12 play and are coming off a huge road win over TCU. They’ve shot the ball extremely well lately, knocking down over 50% of their shots from the field in two of their last three games. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders are coming into this game desperate for their first conference win. They haven’t played particularly well offensively over their last three games, but still only lost by a combined 11 points to TCU, Kansas and Oklahoma. The Cyclones are the better team right now, but you can’t count out any team in the Big 12, especially one that’s searching for its first win.
My pick: Texas Tech +5.5
After two road losses to Kentucky and Texas A&M, LSU is finally back at home where it'll look to remain undefeated on the season. The Aggies dominated the Tigers on Saturday, outscoring them by 32 points in the paint and outrebounding them by 11. If LSU wants to win this game, it is going to have to play much better down low because Florida's offense runs through its big man, Colin Castleton. If KJ Williams plays up to his potential, he should be able to slow Castleton down. However, that hasn't been the case with Williams playing subpar basketball in the team's last two games. This is a huge game for the Tigers because they are about to enter their toughest stretch of SEC play with Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas on deck. If they want to avoid a potential massive losing streak, they'll need to get the job done tonight. I'll take the points with the home team.
My pick: LSU +1.5
The top two teams in the Mountian West will meet tonight with Nevada traveling to San Diego. The Aztecs are coming off a narrow win over Wyoming, but the Cowboys shot nearly 60% from the field. Darrion Trammell struggled to score in that game with only four points, but his speed and ability to push the pace are going to be a major factor tonight against the Wolf Pack. SDSU's Matt Bradley has also played significantly better as of late after a slow start to the season. While Nevada is 4-0 to start conference play, its wins aren't nearly as impressive as some of SDSU's and I'm not sure the Pack is going to be able to continue this level of success much longer. It's also incredibly hard to beat the Aztecs at home, so I'll lay the points with SDSU.
My pick: San Diego State -9.5
