Road Warriors: Keep Cashing With The NBA's Best ATS Road Teams

With the NBA All-Star game behind us, we're nearing the final stretch of the regular season. This hopefully means that players will rest less and play harder as they try to position themselves for the playoffs. It also means that lines will be extra sharp as teams ramp up the intensity. Knowing that, it's important to pick and chose your spots and when to back certain teams. There are three teams that have been great against the spread on the road this year, but I'd only recommend backing two of them going forward. New York Knicks

Over the first portion of the season, the New York Knicks have been the NBA's best ATS team on the road. They're 19-10 ATS, covering 65.5% of the time. That's 2.5% more than the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are the second-best team. It isn't too surprising that the Knicks cover well on the road because they've been a better road team in general this season. They're 17-12 SU away from Madison Square Garden and are just 16-15 SU on their home floor. That difference is glaring when looking at their home ATS record of 12-16-3, which is the fifth-worst record in the league. The Knicks only have 12 road games left on their schedule, so if you want to back New York, make sure to take advantage of one of those games and stay away from the ones at home.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder sit right behind the Knicks in terms of covering on the road. They're 17-10-1 ATS and have been covering the spread by an average of 2.2 points. However, unlike the Knicks, OKC is also a really good home ATS team. The Thunder rank fourth in the league in that category, covering 62.1% of the time. In terms of their ATS +/-, they lead the league at +6.7 at home. If we narrow it down to their last 10 games, OKC is 7-3 ATS at home and 8-2 ATS on the road. Overall, the Thunder are the best ATS team in the league. They're also the best ATS team after a loss and the best ATS team in the third quarter. Take your pick when it comes to backing OKC because they deliver at a pretty high rate in a number of situations.

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are the third-best ATS team on the road this season, but I would be weary about backing them going forward. The Jazz were extremely undervalued early in the year because no one expected them to be good. They traded away their two best players in Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell in the offseason and have a first-year head coach in Will Hardy. That isn't exactly a recipe for success, yet Utah won 10 of its first 13 games. It took the market quite a while to adjust, which is why they're sitting at 17-12-1 ATS on the road. As we enter into the final stretch of the season, I expect the Jazz to lose quite a few games in order to try and get a higher draft pick. They currently sit in 11th place in the West and I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped even further. Playing on Utah was great early in the season, but now it's time to lay off the Jazz.
