English Premier League
It amazes me how much value you can get on some of these teams right now. While the heavy favorites like Colorado and Toronto deserve to be up there, some of the teams with a great record are higher than 20/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup. Do you know what that means? Value; and there is plenty to be had in the NHL right now. I previously talked about how I loved the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins in the second half of the season, and low and behold, both squads have improved since I wrote those articles. However, this team doesn't need to make any improvements from the start of the season, they are already one of the best teams in hockey.
The New York Rangers are sitting at +2200 over at DraftKings Sportsbook, which is downright criminal for a team as good as they are. New York always has one of the biggest home-ice advantages in the league, as the city does with most sports. That comes in handy during the playoffs, and the Rangers are bound for postseason play this year. With a record of 28-11-4, they are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. They possess a ton of offensive power thanks to players like Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider, who have been lethal this season. Just this past week, the Rangers offense put up 16 goals in a three-game span. Kreider himself has 30 goals already this season, leading all of hockey.
Even with all of those guys playing a substantial role in the rapid improvement of the Rangers, it may be that defenseman Adam Fox is the biggest reason for New York's ascension. The 23-year-old leads his team in scoring with 46 points and is one of the favorites to win the Norris Trophy this season for the best defensive player. Not to even mention the play of goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who has been phenomenal. He is second in the NHL in GA/G with just 2.07, while leading the league in SV% at .937%. He's 20-4-2 on the season behind this great offense, making a powerful combo.
Are we sure the Rangers aren't one of the truly elite teams? They are lined at 22/1, around the range of the Minnesota Wild and Washington Capitals. To me, this represents excellent value on a team that has the best goalie in the league, and the top goal-scorer in the league. They are worth a wager at these odds.
