The Vegas Golden Knights just hoisted the Stanley Cup after their impressive 4-1 series victory over the Eastern Conference Champion Florida Panthers. With that, the 2022-23 season comes to a close, and what a profitable one overall it was for us here at BetQL. Now, it's time to move forward and take a look at some of the very early odds for next season. While it's too early to really say what is going to happen this offseason, we can at least look at some prices and make some predictions. Los Angeles Kings +2500: I've been a fan of the Kings for the past few seasons when no one believed in them, and now they have made the playoffs two years in a row. We made so much money off of this team alone this past season, as they were frequently undervalued, which I believe they are here as well. Getting 25/1 with a team that I think is top-4 in the West is some seriously good value, and I think they will only continue to get better. They have a fantastic defense and a solid offense, but they need more consistent goaltending to take that next step. Perhaps that is Phoenix Copley or Joonas Korpisalo who are already on the roster, or they decide to do something else this offseason, but I expect them to be even better all-around in 2023. It's time to take this team seriously.
Ottawa Senators +4500: The Sens caused us a lot of both joy and frustration this past season, but they ultimately fell short of making the playoffs. Still, if you have been reading my analysis for a while now, you know how high I was on this team. Ottawa was one of the only teams in the NHL that failed to make the playoffs despite having a positive shot differential, which is pretty remarkable. What this means is that they actually outplayed their opponents on average, but they had too many games where they just got absolutely obliterated. With a full offseason in front of them, I think they can add more pieces that can really help improve this team. That starts with goaltending, much like the Kings. Easily their biggest problem in 2022-23 was in net, where they allowed a .895 SV%, which is well below average. If they can fix that, and keep up their offense, they can be very dangerous next year as a dark horse.

You can place these bets at any sportsbook of your choosing, but I recommend using whatever book gives you the best number to get the maximum value on your bet. If one book is offering +900, while the other is offering +950 and you want to bet it, always take the +550. It's extremely important to always get the best number if you want to have long-term betting success.
