I wrote about the Kings last year at a huge number about midway through the NHL season, and while they didn't win the Stanley Cup, they did make the playoffs and offered a great cash-out option to pick up some profit. I am going back to the well this season with another huge number that I think could offer a great cash-out option this season if you take them now.
Vancouver offers great value
The Canucks are a team that has started out the season disastrously, and everything has gone wrong for them. As a result, their odds to win the Stanley Cup are an insane +30000 at PointsBet. If you placed just $25 down on this, the payout would be $7,500. Is it likely to hit? No. But profit can be made if they just make the playoffs.
The Canucks should be far better than they are. Thatcher Demko was supposed to be their star goaltender that stopped everything coming his way, be he has struggled to start the year. They have a legitimate No. 1 defenseman in Quinn Hughes and an elite, game-changing No. 1 center in Elias Pettersson. They have goal scorers and playmakers in Bo Horvat, Conor Garland, J.T. Miller, and Brock Boeser as well.
It all hasn't mattered up to this point, but you never know when a team with this much talent gets hot. There also may not be another coach I want to get them out of this hole than Bruce Boudreau, who boasts a .635 regular-season points percentage in 1,041 NHL games, the second-best in NHL history among coaches with at least 800 games. They are well-coached.
If they can dig deep, they can get out of this terrible start. It is still VERY early in the year, and they have plenty of time. At 150/1, I think they have some value for a team that has the pieces to right the ship.
