NHL Goal-Scoring Prop Picks

Check out our favorite NHL goal-scoring prop picks for tonight's games. There is nothing like hitting on a goal-scoring prop pick and we are here to help you find a few easy winners tonight.

Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews To Score A Goal (-130, FanDuel)

Let's just get this out of the way quickly here. If Matthews is on the slate, there is a high chance that I am going to take him to score a goal at this point. He's been unbelievable, racking up 49 goals in 53 games, almost averaging a goal per contest. He leads the entire NHL in goals and has eight of them in his last five games played. Yes, you read that right: eight goals in his last five games. That includes TWO hat tricks in that timespan. You would think he literally had flames coming off of his hockey stick with how hot he has been lately.

To add to his dominance, he gets one of the softer matchups he will face this season in the Arizona Coyotes tonight. Arizona is allowing 32 shots on their net per game, which is above the league average allowed. Their defense is pretty weak, and I would expect that Toronto is going to be spending a lot of time in the offensive zone with how good their offense is, and they are led by Matthews.

Getting -130 actually seems cheap for this prop. It's juiced as high as -150 at Caesars right now, which makes more sense.

NHL Shots on Goal Prop Picks

Check out our favorite NHL shots on goal player props for tonight's games. We comb through all of the box scores and player data to find the best shot on goal props for tonight's game. Tail us for a few easy wins!

Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-190, BetRivers)

If it is a shots on goal prop, we are probably going to bet it at BetRivers, because they always seem to have a line that doesn't make sense. Sure, they juice it up to a high price, but it is often still worth betting based on the line alone.

Here we are going to back Dahlin, who just has to get three shots on goal tonight against a really terrible Montreal defense that is allowing a whopping 34 shots on their netminders per game. Only the Sharks allow more shots on their net per game than the Canadiens do, so the Sabres should be able to take plenty of shots tonight and pepper the net.

Dahlin isn't a huge goal scorer as a defenseman, but that isn't for lack of trying. He actually leads the team in shots on goal with 167 in 54 games, which means he is averaging 3.09 shots per game. That is obviously higher than this line, and that is just his average.

With such a weak matchup tonight in Montreal, I think that he should have a great chance to go above his average in shots. All we need him to do is hit his average against a bad defense, and even at a -190 price, I think it is worth it.

NHL Points Prop Picks

Find out our best bets for NHL points prop picks for tonight's games. We have our eyes on all the shots, goals and assists you need to know when betting points props.

Flyers' Travis Konecny Over 0.5 Points (-210, DraftKings)

Philadelphia has perhaps the easiest matchup of the night for any team, having to take on the awful Chicago Blackhawks, who are terrible on both sides of the ice. Connor Bedard is the only threat they have on the team, and he is an 18-year-old rookie. Their defense has been pretty bad as well, allowing 32 shots on their net per game on average, which is a high number to allow. I expect that the Flyers should dominate this game on both sides of the ice, as they are the far and away better team.

Konecny leads the team in pretty much every offensive category outside of shots on goal and has been the oil that has kept the offense churning. He has 53 points in 56 games played, so he is almost averaging a point per game, and now he gets to take on a pathetic hockey team. He's recorded at least a single point in five straight games and registered multiple points in four of his last five.

I don't think he is going to have much trouble getting one here tonight, and -210 probably isn't juiced enough for this prop.

NHL Assist Player Props

Find out the best NHL assist player prop picks for tonight's games. We have our eyes on the best passers in the league to identify a few quick assist wins for you.

Oilers' Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-190, DraftKings)

I've said it before, and now I will say it again. Taking McDavid to get an assist is almost stealing at this point. There is not a price that is high enough where I would consider taking someone else here.

Plus, Boston is very overrated; they actually have a -1 shot differential this season. They are allowing 31 shots on their net per game, which is slightly higher than the NHL average, so expect the great Edmonton offense to spend a lot of time in the offensive zone.

McDavid is an absolute machine when it comes to cranking out assists. I've never seen anything quite like it. He has 62 assists in 50 games played, meaning he is averaging far more than an assist per game. Most guys struggle to average a point per game, much less an assist. He has recorded an assist in four straight games and even had a ridiculous SIX-assist performance against the Red Wings. He has a whopping 12 assists in his last four games, which is remarkable.

Don't overthink it and just take your money.

NHL Goalie Prop Picks

Flyers' Goaltender Under Goals Allowed at CHI

As of this writing, we don't know who is going to be starting in the net for either team, so we don't have any listed props. However, when the props do release, I'll be taking either Samuel Ersson or Cal Petersen to go under his goals-allowed prop.

Chicago owns one of the weakest offenses in the NHL, scoring a measly 2.09 goals per game and getting just 26 shots on goal per game, so I don't expect either netminder to get challenged very much here. Bedard is literally the only guy who is a true threat to score.

NHL player props add an exciting layer of strategy and engagement to watching hockey games. They allow you to bet on individual player performances, independent of the final outcome of the game. Here's a rundown of the most popular types of NHL player props:

Goal-Scoring Props:

  • Anytime Goal Scorer: Bet on whether a player will score a goal at any point during the game. This is the most common type of prop bet, and odds vary depending on the player's scoring prowess and matchup.
  • First Goal Scorer: Predict which player will light the lamp first in the game. This can be a high-risk, high-reward proposition, with longer odds for less likely scorers.
  • Over/Under Goals: Wager on whether a player will score more or less than a set number of goals in the game. This can be a good option for players with consistent goal-scoring tendencies.

Other Offensive Props:

  • Points: Bet on whether a player will record at least one point (goal or assist) in the game. This is a safer option than betting on goals alone.
  • Assists: Predict whether a player will record at least one assist in the game. Players known for their playmaking abilities are good targets for this prop.
  • Power Play Points: Wager on whether a player will score a goal or assist on the power play. This can be a good option for players who excel with the man advantage.

Performance Props:

  • Shots on Goal: Bet on whether a player will record more or less than a set number of shots on goal in the game. This can be a good indicator of a player's offensive involvement.
  • Penalty Minutes: Predict whether a player will take more or less than a set number of penalty minutes in the game. This can be a risky proposition, as penalties can be unpredictable.
  • Time on Ice: Wager on whether a player will receive more or less than a set amount of ice time in the game. This can be a good option for key players or those in close battles for playing time.

Goaltender Props:

  • Saves: Bet on whether a goalie will make more or less than a set number of saves in the game. This can be a good indicator of a goalie's workload and performance.
  • Shutouts: Predict whether a goalie will keep the opposing team scoreless throughout the game. This is a high-risk, high-reward proposition, as shutouts are relatively rare.

How do Player Prop Odds Work?

NHL player prop odds work similarly to other sports betting odds, but with a focus on individual player performance instead of the overall game outcome. Here's a breakdown:

  • Decimal Odds: Most common format in Europe and Canada. A decimal of 2.00 means your win equals your stake, 3.00 means a 2x win, and 1.50 means a 50% profit.
  • American Odds: Used in the United States. Positive odds (+200) tell you the potential profit you win per $100 stake (a +200 bet pays $200 for every $100 wagered). Negative odds (-200) tell you the amount you need to risk to win $100 (a -200 bet requires a $200 stake to win $100).
  • Fractional Odds: Used in the UK and Ireland. 1/2 odds imply a 50% chance of winning (double your stake), 2/1 odds offer a 2x profit, and 4/1 odds offer a 4x profit.

Tips for Using Odds:

  • Don't blindly chase high odds – analyze the player's situation and matchup before betting.
  • Look for value bets – where the odds offer a better chance of winning than implied by the player's performance.
  • Shop around for the best NHL player prop odds across different sportsbooks.
  • Manage your bankroll responsibly and set betting limits.
