We nailed the Kings bet on Wednesday, as they beat the Oilers straight up to cash a plus-money piece for us. Now L.A. will head to Vancouver on their Canadian road trip, where they will take on the Canucks in the only game of the night, so you had better enjoy it. As I mentioned in Wednesday's article, I think the Kings are usually severely undervalued. I have been impressed with this team so far, and oftentimes they are lined like some garbage bin team, and it doesn't make sense.

L.A. has gotten some terrible goaltending, sure, but it has started to improve. The defense is playing far better, allowing 29.6 shots per game, which is right around average in the NHL. The offense is doing their thing, taking 32.4 shots per game and scoring 3.32 goals per game, which are slightly above average numbers. The Kings aren't some super team or anything, but they are better than what people have been giving them credit for, and by people, I mean the sportsbooks.

The Canucks, meanwhile, are certainly not one of the NHL's best squads. In their case, I also don't think they are as bad as people believe, but they aren't very good. Like the Kings, they have had some trouble with their goaltending to begin the year. Thatcher Demko has been a massive disappointment, and his backup Spencer Martin hasn't been much better. They are allowing an average of 4.06 goals per game, while the defense is also a bit leaky in giving up 32.9 shots per contest. The offense has been pretty productive, scoring 3.41 goals per game and getting 30.5 shots on net, but they haven't been able to compensate for that terrible production between the pipes.

PICK: L.A. is a small favorite here, which makes sense to me. They are the better team, but they are once again one the road. At this small of a price, I'll go with the Kings to get the job done again. I just think they are the much better team, and if they are giving me them at -115 against a bad team, I'll take it.
