Kings at Hurricanes Prediction

The slates are getting smaller as the All-Star break is just around the corner, so today we will start off down in Carolina, where the Hurricanes find themselves defending their home ice against the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Carolina has looked invincible as of late, winning their last five straight games and even beating the league-leading Boston Bruins in that span. They truly are one of the best teams in the league, scoring 3.27 goals per game and allowing just 2.61, a massive goal differential. In terms of shots on goal, they are taking 35.1 per game and allowing just 26.4, also one of the biggest differences in the NHL.

If you have been following along this season, you know that I am a huge fan of the Kings. This team is constantly overlooked, but I think they are a real contender. Some may look at their goal differential and write them off, but that doesn't tell the whole tale. They score 3.17 goals per game, but allow 3.40. However, they are outshooting their opponents on average 32.5 to 28.8. They have won three of their last five, and the value this team gets some nights is crazy.

MY PICK: Kings +180. This is just a crazy number to me. Sure, Carolina has done nothing but win as of late, but that is going to come to an end at some point. Los Angeles is more than capable of winning this game, and you get a massive plus money number with them. All aboard the Kings value train.

Capitals at Blue Jackets Prediction

Let's head to Columbus for our last bet of the night, where we see the Washington Capitals traveling to take on the hometown Blue Jackets. Washington has quietly started to dig themselves out of an early hole that they found themselves in due to a ton of injuries. They have rebounded pretty nicely, scoring 3.10 goals per game and allowing just 2.83. This is a huge difference compared to how they started. Washington is outshooting opponents 31.8 to 30.1, so they have gotten that back into the green as well.

The Blue Jackets don't really have to be explained too much besides the fact that they are one of the worst teams in the NHL. This is a team that is scoring just 2.44 goals per game and allowing a massive 3.84. They are getting outshot 28.7 to 35.0 shots per game, and it's been a full blown disaster for a team that had high hopes this offseason of competing for the playoffs. Instead, it's been a massive step back.

MY PICK: Capitals -1.5. I don't like laying goals very often, but it's hard not to against the Blue Jackets when they are playing a competent team. The amount of offensive pressure they allow is insane, and Washington should be able to take advantage.
