Oilers at Red Wings Prediction

Yesterday was a 1-1 day, but since both were plus-money, we still come away with a small profit. That's what it's all about, and today we will try to do the same. Let's start things off in Michigan, where the Detroit Red Wings will be trying to protect their house against the visiting Edmonton Oilers, whose play has been much improved lately. The Oilers offense has never been the problem, scoring 3.74 goals per game and taking 33.1 shots, but rather the defense that has been questionable. That's always been Edmonton's downfall during the Connor McDavid era.

I think the Red Wings are a bad hockey team that is masquerading as an average team. Detroit scores just 3.00 goals per game and allows 3.27 per game, and is getting outshot 29.6 to 30.6 on a nightly basis. They still have a winning record, but with somewhat of a luck factor.

MY PICK: Oilers ML or -1.5. This all depends on what you are comfortable with. I actually think their price of -165 is laughable and should be a lot higher, but that is still a lot of juice to pay. If you aren't comfortable with that, you can take a shot with a smaller wager at plus-money for -1.5.

Ducks at Blackhawks Prediction

The last several times I've said to fade the Blackhawks, I've gotten burned by my favorite team. So, be forewarned here, but I trust my process. The Anaheim Ducks will be traveling to Illinois to take on Chicago in a game between two awful hockey teams that only bettors will want to watch. Anaheim has been just horrendous, allowing 4.02 goals per game and 38.9 shots on goal per game, both numbers being the worst in the NHL. The offense is also pathetic, scoring just 2.43 goals and getting 29.9 shots per night. There is almost nothing to like about the Ducks, except their price tonight.

My Blackhawks have seen better days. They are scoring just 2.46 goals per game and allowing 3.63. Chicago gets outshot, on average, 26.2 to 33.9. It's been hard to watch this year, but a real fan suffers through the bad times to come out on the other side. I've been blessed to see them win three Stanley Cups since 2010, so I really can't complain.

MY PICK: Ducks +105. There is just almost no way on earth I can lay a price with the Blackhawks, as they just don't deserve to be favorites against anyone. The Ducks are terrible, but they are getting plus-money against another terrible team, so that's the side I'll be on.
