Flyers at Wild Prediction

Let's start things out in Minnesota, where we see the Philadelphia Flyers headed to take on the Wild. The Flyers have lost two straight games and three of their last five games overall, and this is a ship that is going to totally sink underwater very soon. Philly is scoring just 2.78 goals per game and is giving up 31.7 shots on goal every night on average. That's not a recipe for success, and I've been fading the Flyers for most of the season. Their record isn't the worst, at 20-21-8, but they are not a good hockey team.

The Wild started off very slow, but have since gotten themselves together and have been a good team for the most part. I am concerned with their lack of scoring, at just 3.09 per game, but they only allow 2.87 goals per game and 30 shots. I like the offensive pressure they make, at 31.3 shots per game, and I believe that goals will start coming more often at some point.

MY PICK: Wild -1.5. This is certainly risky due to the Wild underperforming in the goals category, but I really think they are the far better team here, and they are at home. I like the value on the puck line.

Sabres at Jets Prediction

My second best bet of the night comes in Canada, where the Buffalo Sabres are traveling to take on the Winnipeg Jets. I'm not a fan of either of these teams to be quite honest, and I think both are frauds when you look at their current record. However, one team here is getting plus-money and the other is asking me to lay an expensive price. The Sabres allow a lot of offensive pressure and goals, far too many to be a legit contender in my eyes. They allow 3.40 goals per game and 32.8 shots per game. They do have an excellent offense, scoring 3.81 goals per game and 32.5 shots per game as well.

The Jets are just one of the largest frauds in the game. Their record of 31-17-1 is crazy for a team that doesn't even have a positive shot-on-goal differential. They have been saved by some excellent goaltending, allowing just 2.61 goals per game.

MY PICK: Sabres +155. No way am I laying a huge price on the Jets. I don't like the Sabres very much either, but at this number, I think this is the side where you can find the most value tonight.
