Blues at Avalanche Prediction

We'll start this weekend off with the early game in Colorado, where the St. Louis Blues will be taking on the Avalanche. St. Louis has lost three straight and has looked terrible. The Blues are allowing a huge 3.59 goals per game and 31.8 shots on their net every contest on average. The defense stinks, but the offense is just as bad. The Blues are scoring 3.04 goals per game and getting just 28.8 shots on goal per game. This is a bad team that somehow has an average record.

Colorado has won four of its last five and is starting to look better. An awful loss to the Ducks last night is discouraging, but this is still a good team. The Avs are scoring 3.04 goals per game, but they are getting 32.9 shots on goal per game, so the goals just haven't been coming as they were last season. Defensively, they are allowing only 2.75 goals per game and 31.9 shots.

MY PICK: Avalanche -1.5. After that bad Ducks loss, Colorado is going to come out swinging here at home. I'm tired of all the Blues love recently, and the last three games show what this team really is. They aren't very good, and the Avalanche are far better.

Bruins at Panthers Prediction

Let's head down to sunny Florida for our second bet of the night, where we see the Panthers looking to defend their home ice against the Boston Bruins. The Bruins have been next to unbeatable this year. They have the NHL's best record and have been dominating. Boston scores 3.77 goals per game and allows an insanely low 2.04 goals per game, while outshooting opponents 33.6 to 28.9 shots. It's been almost unfair.

Florida has been one of the NHL's biggest disappointments as a whole this season after winning the President's trophy last year. The Panthers' offense has actually been just fine, if not really good. They are scoring 3.40 goals per game and getting 35.4 shots on net per game as well. But the defense is killing them, allowing 3.50 goals per game and 32.1 shots per game.

MY PICK: Panthers ML. I haven't given up on the Panthers just yet. Their offense is so good, that it's hard to fade them getting plus-money. The defense is poor, but at home with that offense, I'll take a shot with a talented team.
