How to back the Kraken, Ducks & more!

NHL Odds, Predictions For Feb. 10

Yesterday was a 1-1 day, as the Colorado Avalanche got absolutely blasted by the Tampa Bay Lightning, which I didn't see coming. However, we still made almost a full unit in profit thanks to the Vancouver Canucks, who we had yesterday at +195 to take down the New York Islanders. That type of insane value is oftentimes what makes the NHL the most profitable sport in my opinion, and why these playbooks have been doing so well even when we're .500.

Let's try to do the same today and make another solid profit on the ice on this fantastic Friday. Just a four-game slate to find some value, but we will sniff something out.

Kraken at Rangers Prediction

The Seattle Kraken will be on the road and traveling across the country when they visit Madison Square Garden in New York to take on the Rangers. Both squads have been two of the better teams in the NHL this season, but Seattle has been struggling as of late. The Kraken have lost their last two games, and three of their last five. Still, this has been a team that has been overlooked all year, scoring 3.49 goals per game and allowing 3.06, while also outshooting opponents 30.1 to 28 shots on goal.

I've talked about the Rangers a bunch this season, and even during their early struggles, still believed this was a team that could win a Stanley Cup. I still feel that way, and there are several reasons for that. New York is scoring 3.22 goals per game and only allowing 2.63. in terms of shots on goal. The Rangers are also outshooting their foes on average 32.6 to 29.4. This is a talented and tough hockey team that I really like going forward.

MY PICK: Kraken +160. However, I simply can't pass up this kind of value with the Kraken tonight. Seattle is a good team that is in a bit of a slump right now, but it can break out at any moment. I'll take the plus-money between two good teams.

Penguins at Ducks Prediction

The Anaheim Ducks will be defending home ice tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. You would think this was a massive mismatch based on record and the line, but it really isn't for me. Pittsburgh is better than Anaheim, but I really will be looking to fade the Penguins in the second half of the season. They are scoring 3.24 goals per game and allowing 3.06, which isn't that much of a positive goal differential. In terms of shots on goal, they are actually being outshot on average by opponents, 34.1 to 33. When you allow that much pressure on your goaltender, that doesn't bode will for you over time.

The Ducks stink, let's be real. They are scoring just 2.44 goals per game and allowing a whopping 3.98, the highest average in the NHL. In terms of shots on goal, they are being severely outplayed by their opposition, getting outshot on average 38.7 to 29.8. It's been an awful season all-around, especially on the defensive end, where they let up more shots and goals than any other team.

MY PICK: Ducks +210. You may think I'm insane, and that is fine, but we are getting over 2-to-1 odds here on the Ducks at home against a team with a negative shot differential. I told you I will be looking to fade the Penguins in spots, and this is too much value to pass up.
