The Rams are 2-1, but it's been a roller coaster to start the year. After a blowout loss to the Bills Week 1, they've won two straight, but neither win has been easy over the Falcons or Cardinals.
The Niners meanwhile just lost to Denver 11-10, and also lost left tackle Trent Williams for at least a month with a high-ankle sprain.
Jimmy Garoppolo now is without his blindside protection for a while, which doesn't help the situation given he wasn't even preparing to play for this team this year. The Rams defensive line already has seven sacks on the season.
Now, with Trey Lance out for the season, Jimmy G is essentially going through his own version of preseason, going 18-of-29 for 211 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in that loss to the Broncos.
The 1-2 Niners are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, but the Rams are 6-0 straight up in their last six road games.
The Rams sit atop the NFC West, but it hasn't been an easy road to get there through the first three games. They also lost both games to the Niners during the regular season last year, but won when it counted, in the NFC title game.
It was also their first win against the 49ers since 2018, breaking a six-game losing streak in the process.
This feels like a good spot where riding the momentum of LA can be beneficial. By no means have they been consistent, but San Francisco is still trying to adjust back to life with Jimmy G at quarterback, and he's still trying to get into a regular season rhythm.
Williams also missing time only makes that Niners' passing game more vulnerable to a Rams defense that will surely try and exploit the situation. Give me the Rams ATS.
