It feels like the 1990s again with the 49ers and Cowboys meeting in the playoffs for the second straight season. This will be the ninth time these teams are crossing paths in the playoffs. Dallas has won five of the first eight, although the 49ers won, 23-17, in the wild-card round last season. Also, in five of those eight meetings, the winner went on to win the Super Bowl.

More recently, the 49ers are now rocking an 11-game winning streak after a dominant second half against the Seahawks last week. Not only have they won 11 in a row, but San Francisco is also 9-2 ATS during that stretch. While Brock Purdy has received a lot of attention for everything he’s done since Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury, it’s the San Francisco defense leading the way, holding eight of the team’s last 11 opponents to 17 points or fewer.

Of course, the Cowboys have also won seven of their last nine games after a convincing performance in Tampa. That win made Dallas 5-4 SU and ATS on the road this season. It was also the sixth time the Cowboys scored at least 30 points in a game. Naturally, all of those games happened after Dak Prescott returned from injury, so the Dallas offense could be a formidable challenge for the 49ers and their defense. However, this will be the first time since Week 6 that the Cowboys are in the underdog role, which hasn't happened since Prescott returned from his injury.

I’m buying the Brock Purdy hype and this 49ers team is the hottest in the NFL right now, having won 11 consecutive games while going 9-2 ATS in that span. On top of that, the Niners have gone 8-1 SU (7-1-1 ATS) at home this year while the Cowboys have gone 5-4 SU (5-4 ATS) on the road. This San Francisco defense is the best in the sport and it will force Dak Prescott into a lot of tough throws while also limiting Dallas’ two-pronged rushing attack of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Fortunately for the 49ers, they have the best rushing defense in the league to slow those guys down. I am also giving the 49ers the edge on offense since Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and others will give Purdy a ton of weapons to use. I like this number and will also tease it up to 6.5.
