Best Bets On 2022 NFL Team Win Totals

Lucy Burdge: Buccaneers Over 11.5 Wins (+100 at BetMGM)
Tom Brady is going to be playing every game like it’s his last, I think, so I really like the Buccaneers’ chances to go over this win total. He’ll be focused on a Super Bowl win, which could propel him and this team to 12 or more wins. Leonard Fournette might be well above his playing weight, but he could get back into shape by the time the season starts and I’m not ruling out a Rob Gronkowski return at some point this season. So I think this team can really dominate a weak NFC South this year and hit the over on this total.

Dan Karpuc: Raiders Over 8.5 Wins (-110 at BetMGM)
This offseason, the Raiders added Davante Adams, arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, for his former college teammate Derek Carr, who now has a legitimate WR1. Not only that, but Carr will have Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow, Josh Jacobs and other playmakers to utilize offensively. While there are some questions about the offensive line, this team will presumably be able to put up a lot of points with that core. Defensively, Vegas signed Chandler Jones to start opposite of Maxx Crosby on what should be a great pass rush, while guys like Pro Bowl linebacker Denzel Perryman will be back in a brand-new scheme under first-year Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and his staff. I firmly view the AFC West as the best division in the NFL and think there will essentially be a war of attrition all season long as the teams limit each other’s upside, but the Raiders won 10 games last season and made some strides on both sides of the ball in the offseason (in my opinion). This 8.5 number assumes that the Chiefs will continue to dominate, the Chargers will improve off of their 9-8 record from last season and the Broncos will make strides with Russell Wilson, but I’m not sold on any of those three premises. I’d be surprised if Vegas doesn’t finish at least 9-8 and hit the over here.

Brad Pinkerton: Lions Under 6.5 Wins (-110 at BetMGM)

By all accounts, the Lions have had a great offseason, which included drafting DE Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2-overall pick and signing WR D.J. Chark. But did they get four wins better following their 3-13-1 season? Absolutely not. I'd argue they're still not even better than the Bears, whom they'll be fighting to get out of the NFC North basement, and they're certainly not good enough to scare the Vikings or Packers. But if you're already on the Detroit Lions bandwagon, here are a few other team win totals I'm eyeing while we wait for BetQL's official 2022 NFL season projections: Falcons under 4.5 (-115), Panthers over 6.5 (+105), Bengals under 9.5 (+100), Chargers under 10.5 (-130), Patriots over 8.5 (-120), Seahawks under 5.5 (+115), and the one I'm struggling with the most but it's tough to ignore the value: Colts under 9.5 (+130).
