The New England Patriots started off this season with a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins. While starting off 0-1 isn’t ideal, Patriots QB Mac Jones had, all-in-all, an impressive NFL debut. As a result, his Offensive Rookie of the Year odds are on the move.
So much, in fact, that he is now the favorite to win the award.

Following his performance in Week 1, even though the Patriots lost, Jones is now the favorite to win the OROY at +400 odds. He is followed by Trevor Lawrence at +500.
After Jones was named the starting quarterback of the Patriots, his odds shortened considerably from +1200 to +450.
On Wednesday, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels praised Jones not only for how he’s performed so far, but also for his impressive leadership.
“I think he’s a very competitive guy. He wants to win at everything that he’s doing. He wants to perform his best every single day on every single rep,” McDaniels said to the media. “I think that’s a great trait and a great quality to have. “
“I think relative to pushing himself and demanding the most from himself,” he continued. “I think that’s obviously the No. 1 way to lead – you show everybody else that you’re going to hold yourself to a very high standard, and then you’re going to try to bring others along if you see the opportunity to do so.”
Remind you of, say, Tom Brady?
