Steelers at Browns

ATS Record: Steelers 1-0-1, Browns 1-1

O/U Record: Steelers 0-2, Browns 2-0

It’s always a battle when these two teams get together, especially in primetime. The Steelers won in Cleveland last year, although that was their first road win over the Browns since 2017. The Steelers are also heading to the banks of Lake Erie this week as underdogs after an ugly loss to the Patriots last week. Yet, Mike Tomlin has gone 44-27 ATS as an underdog and 66-29 SU against division rivals during his tenure with the Steelers.

Saints at Panthers

ATS Record: Saints 0-2, Panthers 0-2

O/U Record: Saints 1-1, Panthers 1-1

The Panthers have got to be scratching their heads about how they’re 0-2 SU and 0-2 ATS when they’ve lost two games by a total of five points. The Panthers should also be a little concerned about their recent history with the Saints. Despite these teams splitting the season series last year, New Orleans is 9-2 against Carolina since the start of the 2017 season, including a playoff win. That includes a 4-1 record in Carolina during that time. In fact, over the last three seasons, the Saints are 14-4 in road games against NFC opponents.

Texans at Bears

ATS Record: Texans 2-0, Bears 1-1

O/U Record: Texans 0-2, Bears 0-2

If nothing else, the Texans are perfect against the spread this season. Plus, Lovie Smith is 22-14 SU as a head coach when his team has at least two consecutive wins ATS. Smith has turned around the Houston defense in a hurry, as the Texans have allowed just 36 points over their first two games. Likewise, the Bears have predictably struggled offensively, scoring just 29 points in their first two games.

Lions at Vikings

ATS Record: Lions 2-0, Vikings 1-1

O/U Record: Lions 2-0, Vikings 0-2

Say what you will about Detroit’s recent history, but the Lions might be the best entertainment value in the NFL right now. They have absolutely crushed the over in the first two weeks with their games averaging 68 total points. Clearly, they can score points, even if their defense isn’t quite up to par. The Lions can also be a little more confident in this spot after snapping an eight-game losing streak against the Vikings in Week 13 of last season. However, they’ve still lost their last four trips to the Twin Cities.

Eagles at Commanders

ATS Record: Eagles 1-1, Commanders 1-1

O/U Record: Eagles 1-1, Commanders 2-0

The Eagles have won eight of the last 10 games in this NFC East rivalry, including a series sweep last year, so it’s not surprising to see Philadelphia favored by nearly a touchdown on the road. Plus, the Eagles were awfully impressive in all phases of their Monday night win over the Vikings. These teams have already had a common opponent this year with the Eagles winning in Detroit in Week 1 and the Commanders losing to the Lions last week. However, Ron Rivera is 29-11 ATS when coming off a road loss during his head coaching career.

Raiders at Titans

ATS Record: Raiders 0-2, Titans 0-2

O/U Record: Raiders 0-2, Titans 1-1

The good news is that one of these playoff teams from last season should earn their first win of the season this week. The bad news is that one of them will fall into an 0-3 hole that might be impossible to overcome. For the Titans, it’s hard to decide what loss was worse, a one-point home loss to the Giants or a 41-7 thrashing in Buffalo on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Raiders let an eight-point lead in the final seconds slip away in Arizona last week, however, Mike Vrabel has always had a tendency of bouncing back, going 10-2 in his career following a road loss and 15-3 after his team allows 30 or more points.

Bengals at Jets

ATS Record: Bengals 0-2, Jets 1-1

O/U Record: Bengals 0-2, Jets 1-1

Let’s not forget that the Bengals actually lost on the road to the Jets last season before they got hot late in the year and reached the Super Bowl. They now have to avenge that loss if they hope to avoid starting the season 0-3. On the bright side, the Bengals are 9-2 ATS on the road over the last two seasons. The problem is Cincinnati’s offense isn’t clicking, scoring just 37 points in two games. Of course, the Jets allowed 30 points last week before their comeback win, so they aren’t quite up to speed defensively.

Bills at Dolphins

ATS Record: Bills 2-0, Dolphins 2-0

O/U Record: Bills 1-1, Dolphins 1-1

First place in the AFC East is on the line in Week 3, as the Dolphins have managed to match Buffalo’s 2-0 start. Of course, Miami needed a crazy comeback last week whereas the Bills have outscored their two opponents (both playoff teams last year) 72-17. The Bills are also riding a seven-game winning streak against the Dolphins, including three straight wins in Miami after last year’s 35-0 mauling.

Untitled Image

Ravens at Patriots

ATS Record: Ravens 1-1, Patriots 0-1-1

O/U Record: Ravens 1-1, Patriots 0-2

Baltimore’s early-season tour of the AFC East continues in New England after the Ravens let a two-touchdown lead against the Dolphins turn into a loss. They now face a New England team that won ugly last week ahead of its home opener in Week 3. In his long career, Belichick is 35-9 with the Patriots following a two-game road trip. He’s also 36-12 against the AFC North with the Patriots winning their last three home games against the Ravens.

Untitled Image

Chiefs at Colts

ATS Record: Chiefs 1-1, Colts 0-2

O/U Record: Chiefs 1-1, Colts 0-2

Most teams would kill to open their season against the Texans and Jaguars. The Colts got that schedule, but failed to win either game. After the last two weeks, Indy might be at rock bottom, making this a bad time for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to come to town. Including their Week 1 win in Arizona, the Chiefs have won six of their last eight road games, so Indy’s home-field advantage may not be worth much in this game.

Untitled Image

Jaguars at Chargers

ATS Record: Jaguars 1-1, Chargers 2-0

O/U Record: Jaguars 1-1, Chargers 0-2

This is a big test for Doug Pederson and the Jags, even after taking a big step forward with a 24-0 win over the Colts last week. Keep in mind the Jaguars have lost 20 straight road games with only seven of those games being decided by one score. Jacksonville’s last road win came in October 2019 against the Bengals. Meanwhile, the Chargers have won six of their last eight home games dating back to last season, although only three of those six wins came by more than a touchdown.

Untitled Image

Falcons at Seahawks

ATS Record: Falcons 2-0, Seahawks 1-1

O/U Record: Falcons 2-0, Seahawks 0-2

The Falcons might be 0-2 and headed for another lost season, but both of their games have been closer than anticipated. Also, they’ve scored at least 26 points in both games, so the Atlanta offense is functioning better than most people expected without Matt Ryan. On the other side, we saw in Week 1 how tough the Seahawks can still be at home. Also, keep in mind that Seattle is 27-14 SU under Pete Carroll when coming off a road loss and 10-2 ATS on the rare occasions under Carroll that the Seahawks have scored 17 points or less in back-to-back games.

Untitled Image

Packers at Buccaneers

ATS Record: Packers 1-1, Buccaneers 2-0

O/U Record: Packers 0-2, Buccaneers 0-2

Soak it in folks, this could be the last Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady game we ever see. Of course, neither one has been at his absolute best early in the season, as these two teams are a combined 0-4 O/U thus far. Of course, the Tampa defense that has allowed 13 total points in two games deserves a lot of credit for that. They should provide a tough matchup for Rodgers and the Packers, especially since the Packers scored just seven points in their only other road game this season.

Untitled Image

Rams at Cardinals

ATS Record: Rams 0-2, Cardinals 1-1

O/U Record: Rams 1-1, Cardinals 1-1

The last meeting between these teams was a 34-11 blowout win for the Rams in last season’s wild-card round. In fact, over the last five seasons, the Rams are 10-1 against the Cardinals. On the bright side for Arizona, during Kliff Kingsbury’s tenure, the Cardinals are 20-9 ATS as an underdog and 12-3 ATS when they are an underdog between 3.5 and 9.5 points. Perhaps more importantly, after the Cardinals allowed 64 points in their first six quarters of the season, the Arizona defense allowed just three points after halftime of Week 2 and then came up with a defensive score in overtime to beat Las Vegas.

Untitled Image

49ers at Broncos

ATS Record: 49ers 1-1, Broncos 0-2

O/U Record: 49ers 0-2, Broncos 0-2

The Denver offense has been beyond disappointing early in the season, scoring just 16 points in each of the team’s first two games. That has directly led to the Broncos being 0-2 ATS and 0-2 O/U. Meanwhile, the 49ers are back where they were last year with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback following the season-ending injury to Trey Lance. Amidst the necessary change at quarterback, the 49ers have out-gained both of their opponents this year by well over 100 yards each. Under Kyle Shanahan’s reign, San Francisco is 10-3 SU immediately after out-gaining opponents by at least 100 yards in back-to-back games.

Untitled Image

Cowboys at Giants

ATS Record: Cowboys 1-1, Giants 2-0

O/U Record: Cowboys 0-2, Giants 0-2

Not only do the Giants have a chance to get to 3-0 on the season but oddsmakers are also favoring them to win. The obvious caveat is the Giants have just one win over the Cowboys in their last 10 head-to-head meetings. They’ve also won their two games this year by a combined four points, so the margins have been thin. On the other side, the Cowboys are hitting the road for the first time this season, although they were 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS on the road in 2021.
