One week before punching their ticket to Super Bowl LVI with a win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, the Los Angeles Rams ensured there wouldn’t be a repeat NFC champion for the seventh straight season and the 23rd time in the last 24 seasons with a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Matthew Stafford and the Rams opened atop NFL odds for a back-to-back conference championship but have tumbled. Now the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are among the teams looking to start their own run of consecutive conference titles. Here are updated NFC champion odds, tickets, and handle (as of Jan. 3):
The 49ers are currently the favorite to win the NFC Championship with their +200 odds and they are seeing 17.4 percent of the tickets and 24.5 percent of the handle. They are followed by the Eagles, who have +220 odds and are seeing a higher ticket percentage than the 49ers at 18.2 percent, but the 49ers still have a higher handle percentage, as the Eagles are seeing 17.3 percent of the handle.
I know they're favored so it's a clear choice, but I like the 49ers to take the division. They've overcome the ups and downs at the quarterback position to get to where they are now with Brock Purdy and they currently lead the NFC West with a 12-4 record. Considering how impressive they've been this season, I like the value in the 49ers to win the NFC Championship.
