The Buffalo Bills are in the middle of a long layoff before they finally hit the field again in Week 2 as part of a Monday Night Football double-header against the Tennessee Titans.
After Buffalo's 31-10 demolishing of the Rams to open the season last Thursday, it's clear the Super Bowl favorites (+500 on FanDuel) are ready to live up to the expectations, and Josh Allen is leading the way.
Breaking Through
Sitting not only as the favorites to win it all, but also having the MVP favorite (+400) as your starting quarterback brings an obvious level of pressure. Buffalo spent the last two offseasons looking to build on what they've learned after playoff exits at the hands of the Chiefs, a team that's been to two Super Bowls, winning one, and getting to another AFC title game over the last three years.
To get to the top, the Bills have to first get through that obstacle, like so many of the great teams of the past in professional sports.
Monday brings another prime-time spotlight where Allen can continue to show he belongs in the conversation as the best quarterback in the NFL, and the Bills as the team to beat.
It Always Starts With The QB
The NFL is a quarterback-driven league, and the Bills' success this year starts and rides through Allen, make no mistake about that. Allen completed over 83 percent of his passes against the Rams, and this after sitting under 60 percent his first two seasons in the league. He's the prototypical signal caller for today's game, with mobility, size, and arm strength to go along with that improved accuracy.
Allen even led the Bills in rushing Week 1 with 10 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.
That offense, added to one of the best defenses in the NFL, gives Buffalo a chance to finally bring a championship to a loyal fanbase that's long overdue.
Everything is in place, now they just have to go out there and finish the job.
