NFL Best Bets: BetQL Staff Picks For Week 1

Find out which NFL bets we're targeting for Week 1.

Week 1 NFL Best Bets

Dan Karpuc: Vikings (+2.5) vs. Packers (-110, BetMGM)
I recently wrote about why I think Justin Jefferson is going to break some long-standing WR records and deliver an all-time great season in 2022. First-year head coach Kevin O’Connell is going to bring his high-powered offense to Minnesota and completely modernize the run-heavy offense that Mike Zimmer demanded. That means we are most likely going to see crazy numbers from Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen in the passing game, and also see Dalvin Cook put up awesome receiving numbers as well in a pass-first scheme. Yes, Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers, but I’m not sold on his weapons at the moment, especially with Davante Adams gone. Since Minnesota is also playing this game at home, I think there’s considerable value getting them as 2.5-point underdogs right now.

Lucy Burdge: Buccaneers -2.5 at Cowboys (-135, BetMGM)
Tom Brady is going to be back and as good as ever, and I think he’s going to come out with a bang and get the win at Dallas in Week 1. And some great news for the Buccaneers is they could get Chris Godwin back from his ACL injury sooner than expected, possibly for this Week 1 game. The Cowboys and Buccaneers faced off to start the year last season too and Tampa Bay defeated Dak Prescott and Dallas in that one, 31-29. I think they can get the W again in Week 1 and cover this spread.

Brad Pinkerton: Panthers -1 vs. Browns (-110 at BetMGM)

Are you ready for the Baker Mayfield Revenge Game? As if a cocky player like Mayfield needed a another chip on his shoulder for motivation, he'll get to face the Browns in Week 1 after his former employer shunned him this offseason for DeShaun Watson, who won't be playing any time soon. Mayfield will have a point to prove in front of his new home fans, and this might be the only time all season the Panthers will (should) have Mayfield, Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore all healthy together on offense. I'll take the Panthers at home.
