Dan Karpuc: Lions at Steelers Over 39
Detroit’s first two preseason games have soared over the total, as 50 and 53 points have been scored, respectively. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s have resulted in 57 and 31 points. Overall, both teams have a lot to still prove in this one, starting with the Steelers, who are still trying to find a starting quarterback between Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph. All three will split playing time somehow, which essentially gives the Steelers a solid edge with a starting-caliber signal-caller under center all game. Meanwhile, Dan Campbell already announced that most of his starters, including Jared Goff, will play in this one. I’m not comfortable betting either side in this spot, so give me the over to hit once again.
Brad Pinkerton: Lions +6 at Steelers
With Dan Campbell planning to play most of his starters, I think the Lions will keep this close, if not win against a suspect Steelers team that eeked out a one-point win against the Jaguars last week. Also, I don't trust Pittsburgh to cover six in this matchup.
