Dolphins at Jets: Live Week 12 Odds

Miami Dolphins Week 12 Outlook

The Dolphins have been really good against bad teams this season, but they've also been really bad on the road. Miami is just 2-3 away from home with three straight losses both straight up and against the spread. That said, I don't anticipate it having an issue getting passed the Jets, who have been in a downward spiral, losing their last three games to the Chargers, Raiders and Bills.

For much of the season, the Dolphins' offense has been the reason it's won so many games. However, Miami's defense showed up big last weekend, holding the Raiders to just 36 yards on the ground and forcing Aiden O'Connell into three picks. Jalen Ramsey had two of those interceptions, proving why he's one of the best defensive backs in the league. This week, the Dolphins D will face Jets QB Tim Boyle.

The Dolphins' offense will need to play better against a strong Jets defense if they want to cover the spread. Despite finishing with 422 total yards, Miami turned the ball over three times against Las Vegas and has 16 turnovers on the season. New York still has a dominant secondary that ranks in the top 10 in interceptions, so taking care of the ball is going to be a major emphasis for Miami.

Keep an eye on the injury report this week because rookie RB De’Von Achane left Sunday's game in the first quarter with a knee injury and didn't return.

New York Jets Week 12 Outlook

After benching Zach Wilson in Week 11, Jets head coach Robert Salah is opting to start Tim Boyle this week. I don't see a path to victory for a struggling Jets team that's close to falling out of the playoff picture. Without Aaron Rodgers, New York's offense simply can't move the ball.

New York's offense ranks dead-last in multiple key categories, including red-zone efficiency, third-down conversion percentage and first downs gained per game. The only bright spot on that side of the ball is RB Breece Hall. But then again, he hasn't put up very big numbers over the last few weeks, finishing with fewer than 40 yards on the ground in four of his last five games.

As I mentioned above, if the Jets are able to stay in this game at all, it's going to be because of their defense. They rank fifth against the pass, allowing 178.7 ypg, and fifth in yards per play allowed with 5.6.

Best Bet for Dolphins at Jets

Pick: Dolphins -7.5 (-110, FanDuel)

The Dolphins are in control of the AFC East and I don't see them losing this game despite their struggles on the road. For as good as the Jets defense is, their offense isn't going to keep up with Miami in the scoring department. New York is averaging 15.0 points per game on the season and just 8.0 ppg over the last three weeks. That's not going to cut it against a Dolphins team that's leading the league with 30.5 points per game.

A BetQL trend also favors Miami against the spread, noting that the Dolphins are 6-0 ATS in a road game where the total is between 42.5 and 45 points over the last three years.
