It's not often you see the Seahawks favored by -5.5, and even less often that I'd back them to cover that spread. However, Week 1 presents a unique opportunity. While Nix performed well enough in the preseason to secure the starting role, most of his success came against second and third-string defenses. I’m not expecting the Seahawks to have a standout season in their first year after Pete Carroll and with new head coach Mike Macdonald, but their defensive improvements should be enough to overwhelm a rookie quarterback making his debut.
