Colts Facing Uphill Battle Against Titans For This Reason

The Titans and Colts will clash this weekend in an AFC South Battle. Who will come out on top?

  • Carson Wentz looks like he is going to miss this game, and the Colts have suffered some devastating injury news as of late. Can they rebound after an 0-2 start?

  • An 0-3 start to the season would pretty much be the absolute worst possible start that the Colts could have imagined. This game could determine a lot as to how this division would turn out.

  • The Titans are currently-5 favorites at home against the Colts. They are -265 on the moneyline if you are interested in that, and Indianapolis is +215.

Colts Missing Wentz Is Significant

Colt's QB Carson Wentz' injury status will go a long way towards determining the most likely outcome for this game. It doesn't look promising either, as apparently Wentz injured both of his ankles when he was taken down by Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

If he can't go, it looks like it will be the Jacob Eason show, and that isn't the news Colts fans want to hear.

Honestly, whether it's an injured Wentz or Eason, it would be hard to argue for a Colts victory.

Their offense just isn't equipped to get into any sort of shootout with the Titans, so their defense will have to do all of the work.

Wentz has already been sacked six times this season, and the Colts offense has only three plays over 20 yards through 2 games.

I don't have much confidence that changes with Eason under center. The Titans defense may not be very good, but the Colts offense may be worse.

Titans Should Get Back On Track

The Titans seemed to have gotten back on track last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks after being mediocre in Week 1 against the Cardinals. Derrick Henry found his groove and rushed for 160 yards, while Julio Jones exploded for the first time as a Titan with six catches for 128 yards.

The Seahawk defense isn't good, but the Colts defense is riddled with injuries right now, and could make for some easy pickings for Tannehill and company.

The team lost tackle Braden Smith and receiver T.Y. Hilton, with cornerback Xavier Rhodes still missing time. That is a whole lot of key pieces to miss if you plan on stopping Henry and Jones from gaining infinite yardage on you.

Without Rhodes, I can envision the Titans offense pretty much doing whatever they desire at home against a hurting Indy D.

I like the Titans here at -5 for all the reasons I stated above. The Colts will fall into the pit of despair that is 0-3, and fans will not be happy in Indianapolis.

They need to find a competent QB and stay healthy, because their roster isn't actually that bad.
