Chiefs vs. Raiders Prediction

Kansas City is looking for second division win of the season on Monday Night Football

Chiefs vs. Raiders Preview

The Raiders at this point have to just be happy they have a win under the belt, avoiding an 0-4 start after their 32-23 win over the Broncos in Week 4. As for the Chiefs, their 41-31 win over the Buccaneers moved them to 3-1 as they continue to sit in first place in the AFC West.

Kansas City looks to get their second win in the division on Monday Night Football, while the Raiders hope they can slow down the very-loud early questions about Josh McDaniels as head coach.

Kansas City Chiefs Preview

There was a reason why the Chiefs came into the season as the favorites in their division, and we've seen why for the first four weeks of the season. With wins over the Cardinals, Chargers, and Bucs, Kansas City continues to show why they're a contender, not just for the AFC West, but for the much bigger picture as well, having the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl now (+700 on FanDuel).

Week 5 is what matters here though, and it's no secret that Arrowhead is as tough as any place to play in the NFL, and having lost just one of their last ten games there, the Chiefs get to add that to the list of advantages they have over the Raiders on Monday night.

Kansas City is also 8-1 straight up in their last nine games against the Raiders, while Patrick Mahomes has 18 touchdowns and just five picks against them over his career.

Sure they'd probably love to have Tyreek Hill out there still, but even without the playmaker, Kansas City still sits seventh in passing yards per game (267.8), and second in points per game (32.3).

The defense has been reasonable this time around too, allowing 24.0 a game, which is tied for 12th in the NFL.

Las Vegas Raiders Preview

Right now, the Raiders aren't thinking about any sort of division race, and instead just want to be competitive. They were already outscored by 67 points in their two games against Kansas City last year, and at 1-3, it's become far less about surprising everyone in the AFC West and instead just trying to find a rhythm.

Vegas is also 1-5 ATS in their last six road games while making it a habit of blowing leads late so far this season. They opened the year with three-straight losses under McDaniels, before Josh Jacobs ran for a career-high 144 yards in last week's win, helping to slow down the flood of worry at least a little bit.

They could certainly use more of a pass rush from anyone besides Maxx Crosby too, who has four the five sacks for this team, with corner Nate Hobbs having the other.

Oh, and remember that whole part about the Chiefs being tied for 12th in the NFL in points allowed? Well, they're tied with this very Raiders team, who also comes in at 24.0 points allowed per game, while the total has hit the over in four of Las Vegas' last five games against Kansas City.

My Prediction

Kansas City just has too much offensively for the Raiders to deal with in this game. Adding that to the fact that it's on the Chiefs' home field, and you really have to be comfortable taking KC here.

The Chiefs are also is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against Las Vegas and 10-5 ATS in the last 15 games overall. On the other side, with the Raiders sitting 1-5 ATS in their last six away games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Week 5 games, things feel like a solid cover from the Chiefs when it's all said and done.
