NFL Betting Predictions: Best Week 14 Teaser Legs

Allow me to present my five best NFL Week 14 teaser legs in order of confidence.

Best NFL Week 14 Teaser Leg No. 1: Ravens -1 vs. Rams

I question whether the Ravens can cover a lofty spread, but they should pull off an outright win. Not only have the Ravens won two straight, but they’ll play on extended rest following their Week 13 bye.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is already 91-36 straight up at home for his career, including 84-26 as a home favorite. On occasions where Harbaugh has more than eight days between games, he’s 17-6 straight up for his career.

It’s also a great sell-high spot on the Rams, who have won three straight. However, they’re 1-2 against the AFC North this season.

Best NFL Week 14 Teaser Leg No. 2: Jets +12 vs. Texans

This is the only serviceable angle to backing the Jets this week. I lean to them at +6, but their offense just leaves so much to be desired.

That said, their defense can absolutely keep them in the game and allow New York to stay within 12 points. Entering Week 14, the Jets are third in defensive DVOA and fourth in pass defense DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.

That record should allow them to limit C.J. Stroud, who plays significantly better indoors. Plus, even though Houston is 11th in offensive DVOA, they offer virtually no running threat (30th in rush offense DVOA).

As a result, expect a dropoff in points from Houston as the Jets keep this game closer than most expect.

Best NFL Week 14 Teaser Leg No. 3: Browns +9 vs. Jaguars

I support the under in this contest. If that game script comes to fruition, the Browns can keep this game within this number.

Jacksonville’s offensive prowess derives largely from their passing game, which sits 11th in DVOA. However, the Browns are second in the corresponding defensive metric. Plus, in six home games this season, they’ve surrendered under 200 passing yards in all six.

Further, Cleveland is 5-1 against this number in those six games. Although the Jaguars are 5-0 away from home, only two wins have come by 10+ points. Tease the Browns up through two key numbers accordingly.

Best NFL Week 14 Teaser Leg No. 4: Raiders +9 vs. Vikings

Both teams enter this game fresh off their bye week, which should lead to a close contest.

Simply put, the Raiders are significantly better when they’re the home team. They’re 4-2 in such contests this season, with their only losses coming to Pittsburgh and Kansas City. Additionally, since ridding themselves of Josh McDaniels, Las Vegas is 2-2 straight up and 3-1 against this number.

Although the Vikings are 4-2 straight up away from home, they have a penchant for playing close games. In those six contests, the Vikings have produced only one win of 10+ points. In two Josh Dobbs road starts, Minnesota is 1-1, with those games decided by four total points.

Take the Raiders up through key numbers of six and seven as a result.

Best NFL Week 14 Teaser Leg No. 5: Patriots +12 at Steelers

For his career, Bill Belichick is 52-12 as a six-point teaser option when he’s listed as an underdog. Now he gets to face a Pittsburgh team that loves to play close games.

Of the Steelers’ seven wins this season, exactly zero have come by more than 10 points. Across those contests, Pittsburgh’s average margin of victory is 5.28 points. Plus, that record came with Kenny Pickett at quarterback. Replace him with Mitch Trubisky, and I expect the Steelers offense doesn’t accomplish much on Thursday night.

If that proves true, the Patriots can absolutely keep this game within 12 points.
