The Bears' X-Factor Against The Eagles

After yet another loss to the Green Bay Packers (25 of the last 29 meetings), the Chicago Bears get a bye week to get ahold of themselves.

We saw what happened last time this team had a bit of a break; they destroyed the New England Patriots after their "mini-bye" that came between a Thursday night and Monday night game.

That was when QB Justin Fields showed us all that he is the franchise quarterback the team has been looking for since 1919. Still, that was the last time the Bears won a football game. They have remained competitive in every game, but haven't managed to earn a W.

We all know how good the Philadelphia Eagles are, and they have proven to be one of the best teams in football in 2022. Many are comparing Fields with Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, as both players have a similar game, and both broke out at similar times in their careers. It's unlikely the Bears' defense, which is ranked 20th in the NFL in yards given up per game, is going to stop the prolific Philadelphia offense.

That means the offense is going to have to score points and limit the opportunities that Hurts has on the field. They can do that by running the football.

If the Eagles have struggled at anything in 2022, it has been containing opposing rushing attacks. If the Bears have done anything well in 2022, it's run the football.

This can really help the Bears stay in this game, and at home, possibly come away with the win. The longer they can keep the Philly offense off the field, the better their chances of finally winning a game.

Running back David Montgomery averages 74.0 rushing yards and 0.59 rushing touchdowns when the Bears win and just 49.0 rushing yards and 0.26 touchdowns in losses. If they can get him on the move, and Fields continues to do his thing while limiting turnovers, we could be shocked by the result.
