Washington St. at No. 6 USC Odds, Prediction for Week 6

Washington State Cougars

Washington State improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Pac-12 play following a 28-9 victory over California. QB Cameron Ward passed for 343 yards with three touchdowns the Cougars would have scored more but Ward was picked off twice in the end zone. He's had a real issue with throwing picks this season, and already has seven of them through five games, but it hasn't seemed to matter as the Cougars are 4-1 on the season so far.

Washington State is 12-3 ATS in its last 15 games, showing how well they have been able to cover the number. The under has cashed in 5 of the Cougars last 6 games, so this is a team that is covering in lower-scoring affairs. People have underestimated this team a lot, but I think they are starting to come around.

Being only a +12 underdog on the road to a very talented USC team that is ranked sixth in the nation is giving the Cougars a ton of credit. We'll see if they can limit the turnovers against a defense that has been taking it away at a high rate.

No. 6 USC Trojans

Lincoln Riley's first season as head coach of the Trojans has gone just about as well as it possibly could have. USC improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Pac-12 play following a 42-25 victory over Arizona State. His former Oklahoma QB and now current QB Caleb Williams passed for 348 yards with three touchdowns, with one interception. USC gained 485 yards and held Arizona State to 331 yards of total offense. They have ripped just about every opponent they have faced except for Oregon State, but showed the guts they had by snatching a 17-14 road victory in that game.

Williams has passed for 1,402 yards with 12 touchdowns and has been intercepted just once, and that was in the last game. He's been incredible so far, and should be in consideration to be one of the favorites to win the Heisman trophy in. 2022. Oddly enough, USC is just 4-8 ATS in their last 12 matchups, which extends to last season. The under has cashed in 5 of the Trojans last 6 versus Washington State as well.

The defense has been opportunistic this season in stripping the ball from opponents, and WSU has been all too willing to give it up.

My Prediction

USC has dominated this matchup, as the Trojans are 8-2 straight up and 6-4 ATS over the last 10 meetings head to head. I think the USC offense will be too powerful at home for Washington State to stop, and I think the Cougars are also maybe getting a little too much credit at this number based off of how they have performed lately.

I'll take the Trojans at -12.
